Statement of Educational Goals and Philosophy
As children we have many goals and dreams. Eventually, the time comes when we have to make a career decision based on our interests and goals. The choices that we make now will have a lasting effect on our lives. Like most college students I have explored many career options, but I am always lead back to the education field. Teachers have a very difficult job because they have the power to shape and inspire our future nation. Although that can be an intimidating and often scary thought, it also gives me inspiration to move ahead in pursuing my goal of becoming a teacher. I have always had a passion for children. There is nothing like watching a child grow and watching their mind expand as they learn. Teachers play such an important role in a child’s life. They are often the only one who is there to encourage and support them. If I can make a difference in only one child’s life, then I will have fulfilled my purpose of becoming a teacher.
Teaching is not only about standing in front of a classroom and showing children how to work a math problem. It involves a whole different element of modeling for children morals such as respect for oneself as well as others, self-discipline, and a positive self-concept. There are many different personalities and levels of learning in a classroom. As a teacher, I plan to know each of my students personality, learning style, and academic level so that I can conform to these needs and create the best learning environment possible for all of my students.

I plan to graduate from Concord in the Spring 2004. After graduation, I plan to enter the masters program at either Concord or West Virginia University. At some point in my career I plan to continue my education and obtain my doctorate in education. The teaching profession offers many benefits in its teacher union, so I plan to join the teacher’s union wherever I will be employed.
Teaching is a very rewarding career. I am very excited about completing my education and going into my own classroom. I hope that I can inspire my students and be a positive role model in their life. I want to be an effective teacher who brings out the best in my students; I want to show my students that they can do anything they put their mind to and I want to give them the confidence and the ambition to achieve their goals.
“Knowledge is a familiarity, awareness or understanding of someone or something, such as facts, information, descriptions, or skills, which is acquired through experience or education by perceiving, discovering, or learning.” The definition of knowledge is an on going debate between both scientists and philosophers. Knowledge gives us a theoretical or practical approach to the world and without it we would never be here. It is an essential tool to develop understandings and appreciation, to explore our personal capacities and most importantly to guide us from past to future. Ever since the ages of Plato, a renounced Greek philosopher, multiple theories have been formulated.
Knowledge is the assured understanding of a subject, with the capability to use it for a distinct outcome. It serves as a pattern that is related and typically requires a high level of predictability to what is interpreted and the expected outcome.
Becoming a teacher was not something I always knew I wanted. As I approached an age where I really started considering what I would like to do for a career I only knew that I did not want to work in an office behind a desk all day. I wanted a job that would be interactive, challenging and exciting. I also knew I wanted a job that would be important and would somehow contribute to the world in an important way. I thought being a teacher; particularly a teacher in the primary levels would fulfill those hopes and goals assuming I dedicate myself to becoming an effective teacher who has a positive influence on the lives of my students.
Overall, I feel very confident in my decision to become a teacher. I am so excited to be able to encourage my future students to be the best they can be. The wonderful examples I had to guide me reassures me that I will be a great teacher as well. When I start to feel overwhelmed, my husband and my two wonderful kids give me that extra push of assurance that I need. I hope I can be as influential as the amazing teachers and coaches that I had the privilege to know. My life motto is someone may not remember what you said to them, but they will always remember how you made them
Another reason I want to pursue a career in teaching is because, like I mentioned earlier, I love to learn and when teaching you learn a lot from your students. I believe that teaching is one of the most enriching professions because as I teach students, I will learn just as much, if not more from them. I believe learning from others is a choice that helps us open our eyes to the world and become less ignorant of others' problems. My love for education is also powered by the idea that it is inclusive; everyone can learn at any point, regardless of
Nothing excites me more than teaching. For years, I wanted to be a pediatrician so I could work with children. Throughout my high school years, however, I have discovered that making people feel better is a job not only for doctors. My experiences in high school have helped me prepare for a career in teaching.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.
I believe that a teacher has a responsibility to support children and guide them to become a responsible, intelligent, and independent person to be successful in their future, and the Kentucky School Professional Code of Ethics includes that a teacher should “strive to uphold the responsibilities of education profession”. Children spend at least thirteen years from kindergarten to twelfth grade in the school system, and they will encounter many teachers. Some of the teachers they meet through those years will influence the children. It is my desire as an education major student to become an effective teacher and become a good influence to those children. One of my hopes as an education major student is for students to feel the love in my future classroom. I think each child is unique, and each child deserves educational opportunities. I believe a teacher is a profession that requires patience, knowledge, communication skill, and social skill. The teacher also needs to enjoy the interaction with children, and be able to show them the importance of education and respecting and caring for others. Other professional responsibilities include providing several different ways to present the lesson to cover each student’s most beneficial learning style. It is necessary to focus on each child as an individual
Over the recent years it has become more apparent to me that my real interests lies in education; guiding and shaping the lives of young people. One of the huge influences on this is the birth of my niece and nephew, as I have witnessed first-hand their development, watching them advance in their language and skills. As well as witnessing the impact the huge impact their teachers have on them throughout the years. After seeing this I have now understood that as a teacher every day is different and no child is the same and personally for me this makes it the most fulfilling job there can be as not only are you their teacher but their mentor through their early stages of life.
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
...uable life lessons as well as traditional ones. They should know basic facts and be able to apply them. Teaching is all about getting your students to become better students when they leave the classroom.
Teaching is a daunting task that I do not intend to take lightly. Becoming a teacher has been a dream of mine for several years. I always knew that teaching would be the career for me, especially when I began working in the school system as a substitute secretary. I loved working in the school environment; coming in contact with children everyday made me realize how much I would enjoy teaching a classroom full of students.
