Emotional Intelligence is this ability for yourself to recognize and understand emotions for yourself and those around you. This ability helps you manage your behavior and relationships to get a better perspective for others. We citizens all have emotions, we use it all the time. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social skills, and makes personal decisions that achieve great positive results. Of course we need to dig into the bottom of how it works, this ability is made up of four core skills that are made up with two primary sources: personal competence and social competence. Now for the professional stuff, how much does Emotional Intelligence have on your professional success? Lets just say a lot, emotional intelligence is the strongest predictor of performance. Your emotional intelligence impacts most everything you say or do each day, and it can be developed. The pathway for your emotional intelligence starts in the brain, at the spinal cord. Your primary senses enter here and must travel to the front of your brain before you can think about your experiences. They first however travel through the limbic system, the place where emotions are generated. So we have an emotional reaction to events before the rational brain is able to engage. It requires effective communication between the two parts of your brain. Emotional Intelligence has a huge system making it so much easier for you to control and stay aware of your emotions. Usually our emotions give us a hard time, making things somewhat difficult, but we can’t really control them. Unless you are a pro with controlling your emotions, then that’s a different story. Normally though, we can’t control our emotions and behaviors well. Our social skills is also hard, our social awareness and management skills are usually a more difficult thing to experience. We all have the ability to understand our own emotions, but what about others emotions? We need to focus into not only our own emotions and behaviors but others as well. First step is to look at their expressions on their face, or the tone of their voice. We could probably tell their emotions this way as well as behaviors. With knowing their expressions and the change of behavior, we can find out what’s up with them. Make sure you yourself look into your own emotions and feel how they are feeling. If they are really upset for example, their face will look kinda down and not smiling. Their tone of voice will also be low and quiet, you need to also look at what they do. Are they hiding their face? Or making sad sighs giving you a hint that they are
