First expectation is to appear in class. Students need to attend everyday/week except if you have a reason such as you are feeling poorly or if something unpredictable were to happen, etc. Although when it comes to being in a big classroom like in college, professors do not interface with their students and presence may not be as noticeable as it was in a small classroom in secondary school unless you sit in the front. However, high school teachers appear to be harsher, impolite, and have numerous regulations for the students to obey. For those students who did not obey the rules teachers would discipline them. When you were a student in high school teachers would just give you the work and continue to remind you to complete it before the due date. Yet, when you missed an assignment or an exam teaches help you keep up with the rest of your class. For instance, there was a time I notified my teacher that I would be missing a week of school because I was going to be out of state and he responded that I could turn in all my assignments when I get back without affecting my grade. On the other hand, college would make you choose between a break and keeping up a good GPA. Although, professors assume students are capable but responsible as well. They hand out a syllabus for their course that occurs everything they will be responsible for throughout the semester such as due dates and requirements needed. For example, I had a friend who went to college early this year and they would ask their professors if they had worked or when was something due but their professor would not response back. However, another classmate of hers told her the professors have different expectations than high school teachers; they expect you to be responsible and look through the syllabus. Lastly, college also has one rule for students that is that you do not plagiarize on your assignments there will be penalties unlike in high school. If you plagiarize, you will fail and get expelled, once expelled other colleges will not accept
