Don’t Abort This
Everyone knows about the tragic event that happened on September 11th, 2001. The day 19 terrorists decided to hijack American planes and crash them into the World Trade Center. Ever since, we honor this day in schools and businesses, for the 3,000 innocent lives that were taken that day. This is not the only way human lives have been taken. What about the even more innocent lives that have been taken away by abortion? Since abortion was legalized in 1973, more than 50 million babies have been killed. The definition of abortion is when a women surgically removes a growing, living fetus from her uterus to end pregnancy. A fetus develops a heartbeat at about four weeks after a mother’s last menstrual cycle. A heartbeat which

Plenty of couples out there who are stable enough financially, mentally, and emotionally who can not conceive would love to be parents. That is why adoption is an option. If women do not think they have enough money to take care of a baby or think they are not old enough they should not be putting themselves at risk for having a baby. They know what the consequences are, yet they still do it. Suzanne Trupin also says that there are 20-30 million abortions worldwide each year. Then there are the 10-20 million abortions that are done illegally. Illegal abortions have caused the death of 13% of women since they are highly dangerous. If abortion was made illegal, less women would be trying to do it since the consequences of doing it would be worse. This would save millions of innocent babies lives all over the …show more content…
“We are allowed to take life under the prescribed requirements of law such as self-defense, war, execution, etc. Each of these areas deals with Law. Self defense is justified because an antagonist is breaking the law (burglary, robbery, assault, etc.,), and we can use force to protect ourselves and our property… However, the baby in the womb has done no wrong, yet it is executed.” Everyone in America has the right to protect themselves and have freedom. What about the babies still in the wombs who can not voice their opinions and have no say about what is going to happen to them? Who is going to protect them? Their lives are taken away and they can’t do anything about it. They can’t defend themselves the same way we can. The law states that it is okay to take lives as self-defense mechanism. As a fetus you are perfect, innocent, and have not done any harm. Yet they can not defend themselves and they haven’t done anything to hurt anyone. Someone needs to help fight against
Some people who are for abortion say that the baby can be put up for adoption. While they can be, there are already four hundred thousand children up for adoption in the United States of America. Only, one fourth of those kids are waiting
The conservative argument asserts that every person has a right to life. The foetus has a right to life. No doubt the mother has a right to decide what happens in and to her body. But surely a person’s right to life is stronger than the mother’s right to decide what shall happen to her body, and so outweigh it. So the foetus may not be killed and an abortion may not be performed (Thomson, 1971)
How would you feel if someone took away your ability to live and have a future? You wouldn't have the opportunity to crawl, take your first step, have your first kiss, or experience those butterflies in your stomach at the sight of first love. Millions of special moments, a life, shredded to pieces. This is essentially what abortion does. Abortion is not the answer in the case of an unplanned pregnancy and needs to be stopped! First of all, abortion is a type of unnecessary murder that occurs in inhumane ways and cannot be tolerated. Moreover, there are alternatives to abortion and many families who are looking to adopt. Lastly, the side effects of abortion can cause life threatening health risks to the mother. Excuses will always be made, but the bottom line is that abortion is not acceptable and should be stopped.
In America abortion is one of the most heavily debated topics in recent years. Pro-life or pro-choice? Many people believe it is immoral and even consider abortion to be murder. The definition of abortion states “The termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to being capable of normal growth” Did you know that 1 in 3 women in the U.S. will have an abortion in their lifetime? (Baker, Aspen. "A Better Way to Talk about Abortion." Aspen Baker:. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Aug. 2016.) When first researching this topic I wondered, “What’s the big deal? Why would it matter if someone who was never even born, died?” And I realized that babies that would have been born due to abortion,
What gives us the right to decide who should live and who should die? That is God's decision. The fetus, the innocent human life whose only protection in the world is its mother's womb can no longer feel protected because even its very own mother could have it murdered. Yet that baby did nothing to deserve to have its life snatched away so suddenly. How can a tiny baby who can feel, breathe, and move be condemned to die without ever saying or doing anything wrong? In our constitution, we are all given the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Why is it that a baby is not given these rights as well?
Abortion, which is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, is one of the most controversial issues in society. Many people believe that abortion is unethical and morally wrong, while others believe that it is a woman’s right to decide what to do with her body. According to www.census.gov, “the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. has leveled off at 1.2 million a year” (1). This statistic supports how many women are choosing abortion. Although abortion is legal in the United States, many people continue to voice their opinions on how it is a human rights violation and should be illegal everywhere. The practice of abortion should be banned in society because it terminates the life of an innocent unborn child, causes long-term emotional effects, as well as major health risks for women who opt for abortion.
Of the millions of pregnancies that happen every year, almost half of those pregnancies are aborted. What some people do not know is that abortion is murder; the life of an innocent, unborn baby is being ended because the mother does not want that child. Many people say that the baby is unaware of what is going and they do not feel anything; when really, a baby can feel pain just days after conception. A baby is a baby; it still has arms, legs, and a functioning brain just like the rest of us do. So why are these babies getting murdered? Life begins immediately after conception; Abortion is wrong because it is murder, a “quick getaway” and it is a cheaper way for irresponsible women to not have to take care of someone. There are other options that do not involve murder.
A baby, from conception is a human being. So it is only logical to think that when you decide to take the life of a baby, even if it’s barely visible to the human eye, you are deciding to murder a person. Life begins at the moment of conception, so the argument that a newly conceived human life doesn’t have the ability to feel doesn’t hold a lot of weight. Rather, a person should think of it as the baby doesn’t have a choice and by most standards in society when a person doesn’t have a choice, the act is usually considered wrong, especially if the action results in death.
Abortion, defined as the intentional termination of a pregnancy, is one of the most highly debated liberties of all time. Approximately one to three million abortions are performed each year. Women receive abortions for reasons such as rape, teen pregnancy, and health concerns. Unfortunately, it is a liberty that some still wish to eradicate due to religious beliefs and misconceptions. Abortion should remain a legal option for women because illegal abortions result in far more fatalities, religion does not serve as grounds for a law, and most importantly, there is no conclusive evidence that a fetus is equal to a human being.
If an unexpected pregnancy should occur, abortion is not the only option. There are many reasons why abortion should not be illegal in all parts of the world, and people need to know the options available. Adoption is certainly a strong option in a world where children want to be supported. Abortion is not a method of birth control and people need to be educated on pregnancy prevention and take on some responsibilities. Many people do not realize that at the moment of conception life begins, it is a medical fact, once conceived the structure of life begins to take place (Medical Testimony).
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
Abortion in the United States is a legal form of murder. Each and every year over a million babies are murdered and it must be stopped now before it will continue to get out of hand each and every day. We have discussed in this essay that a fetus is a living humans and not something that can just be thrown away. An unborn child is still a child and he or she needs an opportunity to grow and live a long successful life just like the rest of us have gotten the privilege to do. Abortion cannot go on any longer. More and more live are lost every day.
Yet, I have clearly shown that the fetus is a separate person with its own heart, lungs, brain, and all different body organs. The oppositions would say that it is the woman’s right to terminate her own pregnancies. Yet, in the eyes of the law two charges are filed when someone kills a woman and her fetus, so how is it her right to kill another human being? A woman doesn’t have four arms, four legs, two heads, four kidneys, two hearts, and two brains… so how is it only her body?
... Legal abortion may help parents limit their families to the number of children they want and can afford, both financially and emotionally. Many unwanted babies are abused, neglected, or even killed by uncaring or immature parents (Smith 2000). There is a lack of babies up for adoption because abortion is legal. Perhaps if abortion was illegal, women could go ahead with the pregnancy and then give the baby up for adoption.
Abortions have always been a very controversial topic. Over the years we continue to fight for or against it. One can say that is one of the most talked and argued topic in the United States. An abortion is when a woman terminates her pregnancy before the fetus is viable using various of methods. Some argue that abortions should be illegal and considered murder, while others, from a religious point of view, say that no one has the right to take away the life of a person, in this case the fetus. However, others insist, that abortions are a basic women’s right.
