o What features do you most appreciate? First I like the book that has been used through the course, content simplicity and easy to understand about the philosophy of online learning, pedagogical models, instructional strategies, authoring tools and the resource it backs up with the website option (www.prenhall.com.dabbagh). I appreciate the visibility of home page, very user friendly all the instructions are on the left side and easy to locate the instructions about the assignment. The way groups splits up weekly for discussions will also help the participants to get involve with everyone. I like the way the instructor provide feedback on the assignments is very supportive and eye opening for me. In every weekly discussion the real examples shown by the instructor to promote articulation and reflection among learners is very useful like the discussion of pioneer woman, Lynda .com, Classroom 2.0. o What do you find most frustrating? I think there is a need to have at least two one on one meeting between learner & instructor. One at the initial point where the course start, so...
...cle was involved with her class. It makes the learning process fun and exciting for the students. The teachers make all the difference in the world. A student can learn memorize anything that a teacher lectures on. But the information is only stored temporally. If you make it fun and exciting the student not only learns but the memory lasts a life time.
She employs energetic guest presenters, to keep her adult learners awake and interested. Small group activities keep the class going and you can find help in your groups. Personally, small group activities are a great idea, because it’s a time to get social and bounce ideas off of everyone, causing a better class environment, and a tight knit social experience. She also has lectures that last no longer than 15 minutes per topic. That is a great way to handle lectures.
In this class I learned a lot about hidden and pronounced, I didn’t think too much of hidden disabilities, mostly because it’s something I cannot see. This class made me pay attention to the problems that people with disabilities are facing in society. It helps me realize that many people who are struggling do not show up, which I can relate to. It made me want to be more patient with people, even if I might get mad because of a game or them doing certain tasks.
Overall, this has been one of my favorite classes in that I can work at my own pace, make my own deadlines (besides the due dates), and communicate with others in ways I had never done before. I am more of a hands on, face to face, confrontation kind of student,
Professor Stuart used a lot of discussions in the class. Everyone in class offered their opinion on all the material we encountered during the course. The class discussions contributed to helping me learn because it provided me with extra information and different viewpoints of how others interpreted the material. Also, we ended up going to the library and taking a tour. This experience added to my learning in this course because it taught me how to find the proper materials in the library and how to accurately benefit from the sources available in the library.
In 1999, Mark Bonner of PricewaterhouseCoopers accurately predicted, “Online learning will rapidly become one of the most cost-effective ways to educate the world’s expanding workforce.” Fifteen years later, his statement is truer than ever, as the price of going to a four-year university skyrockets, and technology required to get the same degree online becomes more available. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, from 2000 to 2010, the average cost for undergraduate tuition, room, and board at public institutions increased over forty percent.
I have enjoyed many things about this class. One of the things that I have enjoyed was finding out about my learning patterns. I enjoyed finding out about my learning patterns because it has helped me so much in my life. I can have a conversation with someone and will try and figure out how they learn. I also enjoyed how everything was explained about what our instructor was expecting from us. I enjoyed this because it saves a lot of questions I may have needed to ask my instructor. Interacting with my peers is something that I enjoy as well. When I interact with my peers I feel like I am really in a classroom. Things that I would like to change about this class would be the responses from emails; I wish the responses would be quicker when there are questions. I feel that my expectations of online learning were met plus more. I feel this way because I am actually learning things and I am not just getting a grade because I turned information in. I thought online learning wasn’t serious; I was scared I wouldn’t get the correct knowledge as I would on
I have had many excellent teachers throughout my educational experience, some of these have been wonderful teachers that have set lessons to life. Others have been boring, overly strict, unapproachable, and at times unknowledgeable. I have learned valuable lessons from both. A positive and fun learning environment makes students want to be in the classroom. The first step in learning is that the children must want to be there.
Another concern that some students might have is communication. Some students might not need to have a teacher in front of them and teach the course material to them, to whereas some students might need the te...
There was a significant amount of knowledge given in this course, involving concepts that in our teaching career will be extremely important. From this course I have gained a significant amount of learning experiences. I had the pleasure learning about how the educational system has come to be what it is today and who were the important people in the creation of the public education, like Horace Mann. Watching the videos and reading the chapters required has opened my eyes more of how a teacher should respond to different situations involving a student, For example when we read the chapter on the laws that revolve around the educators and the students. I had absolutely no clue that students had rights while in school property. Another learning
Distance Learning is a system of pondering in which lessons are announced or classes are executed by correspondence or over the internet. Distance learning has become very popular for older adults who wish to go back to school and complete their education or increase their education, but it can be beneficial to many students. Online learning allows flexibility which gives you the opportunity to continue your daily routine or commitments. Many courses can be completed in a shorter amount of time, and you do not have to stay on campus or commute daily with online courses. It is a great way to obtain a higher education.
All in all, I felt that this lesson implementation was a good experience for me, I learned a lot from last semesters practicum, and feel more comfortable teaching the children while being observed and am able to manage the class much better, although I am still quite nervous, which is something that I will continue to work on.
There are many advantages to online learning, it affects the way people can learn. According to “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students”, “students have a greater willingness to write or work on computational skills”. “They say student like the immediate results of having online learning.” Another advantage is that students can learn at their own pace. With learning at their own pace they will be able to actually know the information well. If, they are in a regular classroom setting they may no...
There are some students who find it easier to work in internet classrooms and some others that find it easier to stay with traditional classrooms. I think someone may choose internet classrooms if they have difficulty interacting with teachers and other students. Some people do not like being in the classroom because they do not feel at ease around certain people especially those who treat others with disrespect. It is hard for a student to concentrate and learn a lesson when they have that kind of pressure.
I was really impressed on how well organized Alexia Hall was with the class she seem to know where she wanted to the class to be at the end of the semester. We were past out with the class policies and a syllabus of what we were going to do the whole semester. I thought this was very convenient so that there was no mixed signals in the group.
