Respect In Everything That Rises Must Converge

“I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university” (Einstein). Respect, a basic value, maintains moral behavior when people abide to it by demonstrating the proper way to act. Treating people with equal treatment regardless of their age, class, race, and background is the key to success. Envisage a world without respect or anything to do with respect. Without respect, people will discontinue the act of enduring each other entirely and will become utterly selfish in their ideas and deeds. Respect is the action of accepting one’s belief and appreciating their qualities, which can be hard for some people to follow if they lack the simple recognition about respect.
Respect isn’t just the feeling

People with a lack of respect typically mirror what they experience from the past by reflecting upon it. The lack of respect is caused by the dissonance between people when recognizing one's emotional state, attentiveness, and attitude. From the short story, Everything that Rises Must Converge, Julian shows disrespect to his mother by saying, “They don't give a damn for your graciousness” (Flannery). Julian is not acknowledging of one's feelings because of their qualities and actions. Some people don’t know the difference between knowing respect and showing respect. Students showed a lack of respect when they rejected expectations, “In 1834, Harvard students rebelled when some of their classmates were punished for refusing to memorize their Latin textbook. They broke the windows of a teacher’s apartment and destroyed his furniture” (Worthen). The students are rebelling against the teacher and showing what the outcome is like from being told what to do. They are doing what they think is the best way to act when something isn’t working out. As a result, the ability to recognize the indications of a lack of respect is a reliable start to forming a relationship and enhancing interaction with one
