Recommended: Importance of leadership in the organisation

Jack Welch, an American chemical engineer, businessman, author, and former CEO of General Electric Company once said, “Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion” (Jack Welch Quotes). The words of this successful businessman are easily said, but for many, not easily achieved. There are many factors needed to be able to land a career in business administration. To be able to be successful in business administration not only do you need to be a good team leader but the knowledge and skills are needed to manage a business. Being in this type of field can be rewarding in terms of salary and the different careers you can branch off to. With a higher degree your possibilities to move to a higher position within a company are limitless. Having some idea as to what business administration has to offer is important as it can show you if it’s the career you want to pursue. After handing out questionnaires to students studying in this field there are a high number of similar responses in regards to: Who influenced there decision to choose this field? What do they want to gain in working in this field? Do they want to continue to a higher degree? The students surveyed knew that this career offered a lot of opportunities of advancement. Most were influenced by family who work in this related field such as in real estate or in human resources and even school counselors. Others wanted to be there own boss and didn’t like the idea of having to take orders from others. More then half agreed to want to continue their studies and they wanted the knowledge and professionalism that they were going to by working in this field. Working in a fast paced challenging environment is not easily achieved by many.
