Courage is an excellent trait to have and not many people have it. I know there have been times where I was not brave at all. Although, I can remember a few times where my braveness showed. I was about seven years old and I was about to perform on stage for the first time with my theatre group. I was scared that I would mess up one of the dance moves or slip and fall on stage. Then, I went on stage and I actually did very well. I was brave because I didn’t run away and hide, like I normally would have at that age and I pushed myself to do something that I was afraid to do. The affected me, because now I can do some things that I am afraid to do, like trying new things. Another time that I acted courageously was starting my first year of high
The first four weeks of CR510 have prompted this student to reflect on her years of teaching in the public school setting. Having experienced many similar complexities to the ones in the text, this student is sympathetic to the challenges facing those in the education system and is eager to find opportunities to offer a better solution for all involved. CR510 has strengthened this student's belief that a third party neutral can provide valuable benefits to educational systems at all levels.
Writing essays was never my forte, it just never came easy to me like it would to others. Since other subjects came easy to me and I had to focus more than others on writing, I had a negative attitude toward the process as a whole. During this summer semester, I was able to grow as a writer, and gain a more positive attitude toward how I write and a better feel for writing in college. Writing a paper is a process in which there are many different stages. In high school I would never write outlines or any sort of pre planning work. Other struggles I encountered in my writing were my theses, and framing quotes.
To me having courage makes me feel stronger than ever. Courage is one of the things that helped me join NJROTC, and it helps me get through the days. Before I learned what courage was or even used it, I was too shy to even say my name out loud. But when I joined NROTC they helped me break my shyness. And now I see clear, I know in the future courage will help me stand up and make it to my goals in life.
Many people confuse courage for not being scared of what could happen, Franklin D. Roosevelt once said that “Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the assessment that something else is more important that fear.” Courage isn’t being able to act like nothing will scare you or make life more difficult, it’s the ability to realize that something will be difficult or scary and you overcome the difficulty. Courage is the ability to overcome hardship, not avoid it or create more of it to make yourself seem more
Initial Reflective Essay When I first thought of what I wanted to do with my life after college, the first thing I thought of was helping people. The next step in deciding what I wanted to do with my life was to examine how I could accomplish this goal. I started pondering and I was thinking about how much I love to take care of my body. Health care and personal hygiene has always been an important factor in my life. So I decided to major in Health Sciences.
Has anyone ever shown bravery in your life? Bravery is someone who’s not afraid to step up to the challenge, Like in the book The Hobbit Bilbo shows that quite a few times, and an article about a cop saving his partner. Bravery is someone who has courage and is not afraid of something others might be afraid of , anyone can be brave and it can happen when you least expect it.
Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words. I had not taken any extra writing classes before this year rather than the mandatory ones. Like I had stated before, I hate writing, with a passion. I dread writing anything, especially an essay for school, like this one. I’m
this area but I’m going to improve on it. The process of using multiple drafts has
Another time that I was brave was in sixth grade when I saw a girl getting bullied. I saw the girl getting bullied, and at first I was scared to help her because what if the bullies did something to me. I finally decided to help her because the where about to hurt her, so I told them’ “Don’t you dare touch her!”. Both of the bullies gave me a nasty look and started walking my way. At this point I was getting scared because I knew they were probably going to hurt me.
Helping people in life or death situations or stepping up even if it’s not necessary to do, are two examples of being brave. Kindness, compassion, cleverness, and many more traits are the makeup of being a brave person. “‘I knew I had to take the blows to save my partner’s life,’ Dobis said.’ I knew in my mind I was going to be able to handle it. I knew that I had to protect her.
At the start of this class, I made a goal to develop my writing skills to better prepare me for other courses for my degree. I knew English 106 would be different compared to any other English or college courses that I have taken. I knew English 106 environment will let me grow in diverse writing dimensions. My long serving years of experience in the military has exposed me to many cultures around the globe. In just seven weeks of the course, I have seen some improvement in my writing. This course has afforded me with several techniques that have made writing not only a little bit easier but also more in-depth resulting in a higher level of academic writing versus my normal military style writing. Now I understand the writing process and
Writing for me has always been a love and hate relationship since I could remember. Depending on the subject matter that I was writing about I would enjoy it because it suited my style or I loathed it because that specific style was uninteresting and boring to me. Learning certain writing formats were absolutely the worst part about writing when I first started learning in high school. As time pushed on and I grew older I began to develop an appreciation for writing that I did not have before; which is what led me to taking Writing 101 as my first full-fledged college course. I began this course with minimal writing experience because of what I failed to retain before, but now I am a stronger writer than I could have imagined with new skill sets that enhance my professional portfolio.
Everyone almost all of the time experience intellectual, emotional, spiritual, or physical courage and that changes individual in certain way. I have experienced physical courage when I was bullied verbally in elementary school. I remember the day like it was a week ago. I was really nervous to go to my first day of class in 4th grade because I moved to America a week before school started. Since I couldn’t speak or fully understand what the students were talking about, they used to verbally bully me and make fun of me.
Dr. Bill Blevins gave the best speech on courage that I have heard saying that courage can be categorized in multiple categories. The category that I think of as being the typical form of courage is the physical aspect. When I think of courage, I think of soldiers who have the courage to go into battle, knowing they may die, just because they want a better and safer life for their family at home. When I think of social courage, I think of students who say no to peer pressure, which could lead to the loss of friendships. Spiritual courage is having the courage to tell someone you care about that what they are doing is wrong and they need to change their behavior.
As stated by Yeung Kathryn, “You get in life what you have the courage ask for”, courage is a highly acclaimed trait that shows the action on the consequences of fears and doubts. This is not a single characteristic. It is the combination of numerous quality such as bravery, passion, faith and so on which makes a perfect human being. Though it is very easy to pronounce, it needs lots of struggle to raise up. The value of courage is profound by motivation behind it. By being brave simply is not considered as courage.
