When this course began, I wasn’t cognizant of how my messages might be interpreted. Now, I 'm more deliberate and aware of how my communicational messages are created and sent. Becoming a competent communicator has required me to become aware of my interpersonal thoughts. My interpersonal thoughts effect my self-esteem which directly correlates to my ability to communicate effectively. I have been partially successful this quarter at Bellevue College due to my positive and encouraging interpersonal thoughts. During group conversations, I 'm constantly thinking about how my interpersonal thoughts might affect the next statement I make. I want more opportunities, and I want help when I need it. Before this course I dealt with challenging situations my things myself. Now, I know who, what, where, and how I should disclose information to get what I want. At the beginning of this course I wasn 't aware of what my nonverbal messages were communicating to the people around me. Now, I smile, wave, and look people in the eyes when I speak to them. My pseudo listening habits have been ingrained in my mind. Each time I start using any type of pseudo listening method when I 'm communicating with someone I 'm quickly aware of it and stop it immediately. How do I plan on using my new communication skills after this course? Patience, we covered a lot of information and I need time to start applying it all. Where do I see myself using my new communication skills? Networking, my career as student as a student has just begun, but in the near future I will start looking to develop new professional relationships. My ability to communicate effectively will be the difference between me earning an internship. Among all of the other skills I will develop throughout my career as a student, I can only imagine how important it will be for me to be able to effectively
