I strongly believe that the class, HD341 Communication for Empowerment fulfill my goals in taking this class because it is giving me many opportunities to make connection with other classmates. I usually check in by sharing my stories at school, at work, and any issues that I am still concerned. Therefore, verbal communication is an area I frequently use in class to communicate with my peers as well as my professor. I also have active listening my classmate’s stories and have critical thinking to giving feedbacks to them. How has this class added to your knowledge of working with children? In the discussion, I have learned different cultures and diverse techniques to work in early childhood environment. I also learned it is okay to express our feeling while I shared the struggles as well as sad story from my life. In the self-esteem research paper, I had a chance to discuss about my self-esteem while living in a new country. When I wrote this paper, I have learned that I have both positive and low self-esteem. Honestly, I have never paid attentions about my self-esteem. After writing this assignment, I was surprised that I could recognize my positive and low self-esteem. To ensure good quality and coverage of health services, facilities can conduct self-assessment by analyzing and comparing the actual activities against plans made and targets. The analysis of quality of health services refers to quality of the best possibility treatment patients/clients receive. This requires the reference to the protocol and guidelines for standardized treatment. For example, the proportion of children under one get the correct vaccines at the right intervals. The analysis of coverage suggests the number of patients/clients receive a particular services compared to those who should have received it. For example, how many children under 1 year old are immunized?
Self-assessment tests have been around for as long as I can remember. The first self-assessment test I took was when I joined the Navy. I remember thinking what in the world does any of this have to do with joining the military. I soon discovered that it tested more than mental aptitude. It really showed mental, physical, and social traits that one possessed when put in situations that they had no control over. The tests are designed to gauge where one will be when stuck in a situation that they cannot get out of like out to sea on a boat or submarine for six months at a time. The importance of self awareness and esteem are necessary components in considering the whole child. The elementary level is the prime time to focus on building up a child 's self concept. Self-reflection is defined as meditation or thought put towards your own goals or motives. To self-reflect, you must be willing to take time for yourself, even if you do not think you have time. Everyone has a lot on their plate, but even if it seems as if the world is crumbling around you, taking time to be selfish every now and again is crucial. Setting a goal for yourself cannot be done unless you have a willingness to understand your own personal nature, essence, and purpose. It may seem hard at times, especially if you are a selfless individual, but it is important to remember your place and what you are trying to achieve. In order to do so it is necessary to understand Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.
Self-esteem touches everything about a person’s belief about himself and his emotional state. One’s belief can be positive e.g. I love myself, I am a great person. On the other hand, it can be negative e.g. I am useless or I am too fat. Furthermore, emotional state include shame, pride, joy, despair etc.
In middle childhood, around the age of 7, children start to develop a self – esteem. The development of self -esteem is important because it determines the way a person views ones-self. The Self- esteem formed in middle childhood changes by the time an individual reaches adulthood. There are many longitudinal studies that have been done on the development of self – esteem. One such article is “Cherish Yourself: Longitudinal Patterns and Conditions of Self- Esteem Change in the Transition to Young Adulthood” the researcher wanted to see the change in self –esteem between secondary school and young adulthood, they also wanted to see if gender played a role in the change of self-esteem, this study is explained in the article. In another study, “Self- Esteem Development From Age 14 to 30 Years: A Longitudinal Study,” the researchers studied self –esteem development between the ages of 14 to 30 with a focus on how demographic variable such as gender and ethnicity, the five personality traits; sense of mastery, risk taking, health and income all played a role in self-esteem.
The irony is that speaking to others is one of the most important, if not the most important, professional and personal skill students must have to be successful (Doyle 88). The student needs to understand the importance of this skill and realize that in the future many opportunities and career successes are directly impacted by working with others. Students are also encouraged to take charge of their learning. Giving the student control and as many choices is a good way to optimized their learning.
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.

Self-esteem can be defined as how children feel about themselves. Children's levels of self-esteem are evident in their behavior and attitudes. If children feel good about themselves, these good feelings will be reflected in how they relate to friends, teachers, siblings, parents, and others. Self-esteem is something that affects individuals throughout life. Therefore, it is very important for parents to help their children develop healthy levels of self-esteem. There are many things parents can do to help their children learn that they are lovable, capable, and competent, beginning when their children are at a very young age. Unfortunately, it is also at a very young age that children can begin to develop low self-esteem. Parents must be very careful not to plant the seeds of low self-esteem in their children unknowingly. Children learn their first lessons about self-esteem from their parents.
Well I guess I’ll start off this paper by being outright honest. I have never done this type of self-assessment exercise. So I’ll start this paper off with what exactly this type of self-assessment is. These types of self-assessments are meant to help show the individual (me) where my strengths lie and also where my weaknesses are as well so that I may try and lean on my strengths while improving on my own shortcomings. Essentially the Johari Window four regions model that we learned about is a great tool for this assessment. The first region is also known as the open area, which essentially means that this is what is known by the person about him/herself and is also know by others. The second region is known as the blind area in which this is information unknown by the individual but is known by others. Which could be behaviors that an individual does but does not realize that they are doing them. The third window is known as the hidden area. This area is essentially information that only you know about yourself and others do not. The fourth area is known as the unknown area. It’s known as that because this is information that you and others do not know about you. It’s when you take a look at these four areas and see your strengths and/or weaknesses are at and if you allow yourself to become open to feedback you then can improve on your own shortcomings and become a better leader.
Now the communication class is almost over I have realize how important is to have good communication skills, and how it is key to life. I have learned many things in this class for example ways to approach strangers. Another thing that I have learned how to handle conflict and how sometimes it could be good it not always bad and many others. The way I look things have change to have reach my goals. This class was has also taught me how to look in the “other” perceptive, and not being selfish by just seeing one side. All that I have learn will help me and other around me to be able to communicate better.
