Aldous Huxley once stated “I wanted to change the world. But I have found that the only thing one can be sure of changing is oneself” (Harris 40). Throughout the eight week term of the Foundations of Learning course at Moody Distance Learning, I have gained a better understanding of myself and who I am as a student, leader, employee, and in the next few years, a youth minister. By learning about the foundation of my vocational calling, the positive aspect of time management and where to go to gain strength and persevere through the hardships I may face through my journey in education but also the future. However, after reading 7 Habits of Highly Effective People during my senior year of high school and in this course, I have found that balancing my time wisely has been a great tool and enables me to accomplish things without feeling exhausted or stressed afterwards. In his book, Stephen Covey states “organize and execute around priorities” (Covey 158). This has definitely helped me figure out what things in my schedule were more important than others and which ones I could do at a later date or time that were not as important. Being a full time student, a part time sales associate, and a part time youth leader took up a lot of time in my schedule and would usually cause be to spend countless nights awake trying to get my work done in time. There is one principle that I have found that works greatly when it comes to time management and that’s the weekly planning one that Covey states will provide a much greater balance and context than daily planning. (170) I have found that planning my weeks out has definitely enabled me to grasp a better understanding of where my time and focus needs to be each day and also enabled to me focus on my personal life but also my relationship with God without feeling run down or …show more content…

As stated before, I have found that planning my weeks out ahead of time enabled me to get my main priorities lined out and completed more efficiently without feeling run down or stressed afterwards. In the Bible, there is a verse in Matthew that states “Therefore, do no worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt. 4:16). I feel that this verse is what will remind me to take things one day at a time and to remain confident that everything will work out as planned even if God has a different plan than I
