TITLE
Ray Bradbury’s view of technology is a warning towards our reliance of it going to a point where we, as people, are needed less than technology itself. I agree with this view, as our society has gone down a path where a large of likes you get on a post outweighs personal achievement, and special robots replace the jobs of thousands of people. Already, people go out less and less to spend more and more time on social media, video games, or anything of the sort. All in all, advances in technology has led society in a downward spiral, with no likely way of getting out.

When we began to reach new heights in our technological advancements, our problems did the same. Hundreds of thousands of jobs have been taken away from people, only to be given to robots, due to them being the cheaper option. Ray Bradbury’s ‘The Veldt’ has a similar idea, a robot replacing the job a parent is supposed to handle. The consequences being the parents are no longer viewed as parents, and are later being killed by their own two kids. Eventually, something like this could happen to us in today's time: robots becoming more efficient than humans in all fields of work, rendering us as useless. The parents in ‘The Veldt’ do almost nothing. The robots clean, cook and even comfort them. We are already developing A.I that could soon be smarter than the people who created them. There are advances in other technologies that could pose problems in the future, some of them already starting to. For example, our advances in nuclear technology has led us to the many issues today related to nuclear warfare, whether it be threats or actual fighting. Countries rely on this power to create a solution, but it only starts more problems. If something were to happen to the people who use social media or some other form of technology in their everyday lives, such as the power going out, what do you think these people would do? We depend on technology for just about everything in our daily lives. This assignment is being written with technology! If people had not relied on technology as much as we normally do, we could lead better lives and interact among each other. The knowledge in Fahrenheit 451 can teach everyone a lesson. Ray Bradbury's writing has some accurate and some not accurate predictions about the future. Fahrenheit 451 had many futuristic ideas of mechanical dogs working for the firemen. The firemen work not to stop fires, but start them to burn books. Montag, a fireman, has had a change in morality of his job. His actions cause him to be in trouble with Beaty, the head fireman, which then Montag kills. Many of Bradbury's warnings are true or coming true. While, Bradbury's predictions about technology taking over and the society dying by war come true. But, some kids still work hard and talk to family.
Many of Ray Bradbury’s works are satires on modern society from a traditional, humanistic viewpoint (Bernardo). Technology, as represented in his works, often displays human pride and foolishness (Wolfe). “In all of these stories, technology, backed up by philosophy and commercialism, tries to remove the inconveniences, difficulties, and challenges of being human and, in its effort to improve the human condition, impoverishes its spiritual condition” (Bernardo). Ray Bradbury’s use of technology is common in Fahrenheit 451, “The Veldt,” and The Martian Chronicles.
As seen in Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, people become unconcerned and uninterested in the world around them because technology closed their minds; they would rather concentrate on their own happiness and wellbeing. If technology does bring mankind to a point where they no longer need to struggle or think, then imagination, creativity, and innovation will cease to exist. Knowledge will become two dimensional and deemed unnecessary. As the author Edward de Bono once said, “There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.” The use of imagination is what develops the world. Ray Bradbury is a well-known author for his outstanding fictional works. In every story he has written throughout his career, readers will quickly begin to notice a repeating pattern of him creating an excellent story revolving around technology. Ultimately, in his novel Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury is saying that technology, although wonderful, can be very dangerous. Technology can enhance the productivity of our lives, while reducing the quality.Human interaction is the glue that holds society together, and technology simply cannot be a substitute.
With today’s technology rapidly advancing in numerous ways, people are left with the question of whether or not these new electronic resources are truly aiding in the progression of mankind or if it is only preventing people from genuinely thinking for themselves. Technology has changed drastically from the the time period in which Ray Bradbury alludes to and the modern era which we live in today. However, the debate on whether technology is detrimental to our well being and society has been very controversial for as long as time. Technology is like a game of pick your posion. For example we have social media, we can either nitpick the issues wit Fahrenheit 451, a dystopian look into a horrific possibility of our future, highlights the idea that technology should compliment people and not over shadow them.

Today’s world is full of robots that vacuum the floor and cars that talk to their drivers. People can ask their phones to send a text or play a song and a cheerful voice will oblige. Machines are taking over more and more tasks that are traditionally left to people, such as cleaning, navigating, and even scheduling meetings. In a world where technology is becoming increasingly human, questions arise about whether machines will eventually replace humankind altogether. In Ray Bradbury’s short stories, “The Veldt” and “August 2026,” he presents themes that technology will not only further replace the jobs of humans, but it will also outlast humankind as a whole. Although this is a plausible future, computers just cannot do certain human jobs.
Others may simply not like the increased dependency on technology and these negative feelings are justified. If we continue to depend on technology to a point where it does everything for us, how will we be able to think for ourselves. I think there should be some balance to the gap between human lives and technology so that we don’t end up like some of the mindless people in the story by Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit
Technology has always been shown as this amazing thing that could make your life better and gain you more happiness, but in reality its pushing you away from society and more into this little isolated island you have made for yourself where you might suffer because you have let technology consume you so much that you’ve dug such a deep hole that it’s going to be nearly impossible to get yourself out. We’re told that technology is the answer to all of our problems when really it may be one of the strongest things that can destroy us. Ray Bradbury said himself that he is not trying to predict the future he is trying to prevent it, but all though the fact these stories were written almost 20 years ago, slowly our world is walking down the same path
Welcome to the twenty first century; where devices that can practically do anything and everything for you, is in the palm of your hand:but is that a good thing? Smart phones and other electronics have a substantial negative impact on modern day lives. Social media such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are rapidly causing human life to deteriorate. Although you may not see it, technology is literally taking over our lives.
Imagine a world where you no longer had to work; a world where all the task such as cleaning, cooking, and driving are done by a robot. Surprisingly many of these task are being done by robots now. Even though the new technologies seem primitive they are quickly as good as, if not better than humans. These robots are replacing many workers leading to large unemployment in some industries. Automation is replacing human labor and as a result taking away the jobs.
Nowadays people use technology from everything from business to education to entertainment and much more. Almost everything we do and every aspect of our lives is affected by modern technology. With all the advantages of technology it is not surprising that we rely on it for almost everything in our daily lives, but how much is too much? People’s over-use computers and other modern technology is causing vital skills to be lost as technology replaces traditional ways of doing things. We are losing communication skills, memorization skills, and ……..?????????. And with the loss of these skills, what happens when technology fails?
