Pudu is a Spanish name for the world's smallest deer. There are two species, the northern pudu from Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, and the southern pudu from southern Chile and south-western Argentina. Both of them are considered "Endangered". The pudus have small, black eyes, black noses, and ears that are rounded. Pudu have small hooves, dewclaws, it is a false hoof on an animal, and short tails. Their fur is a reddish-brown to dark-brown and in the winter, their neck and shoulders turn to a dark gray-brown. Pudus are solitary and they only come together for rut, when males fight each other to win over the females.
