There is a controversial issue on whether public schools should be required to wear school uniforms. I believe that public schools should wear uniforms because it helps students focus on their studies rather than other students.
Wearing school uniforms reduces social snobbery and peer pressure, and instills a sense of discipline, modesty and community. School uniforms might diminish the use of inappropriate clothing, gang activity etc., but it will not be eradicated. School is supposed to be an institution of learning where students are being shaped and generated to be the leaders of our future, but now it has become a showroom for a fashion show, a “ who wore it best” contest. Hence the fact that although there are some cons pertaining to this issue, after doing a significant amount of research I have come to the conclusion that the positives outweigh the negatives. I think that wearing school uniforms will bring a great sense of satisfaction to the all parties. It is up to us to do what is right for our children. If we have found one solution to eliminate the problems that most students are facing today, such as bullying, costs etc., why not take advantage of it. We all want what is best for our children. School uniforms might not be the solution to mend students’ academic reading, writing, and math proficiency, but it aids in addressing part of the problem with regulations and attendance.
Public school K-12 must implement school uniforms across the nation to bring the benefits of a decent education system. There will be less bulling, which will enable students to feel safe. There will be no gang related issues. Parents will not have to pay lots of money for their kids’ clothes. Also parents will not have to worry about what the kids are wearing to school. There will be less stolen valuables from the students. Students will be disciplined causing them to focus more on school, preparing them for a bright future. Females will not be sexually harassed and not bring unwanted attention. There will be less peer pressure to wear clothes that is in style or brand name. School uniforms must be implemented by public schools, K-12, because of the benefits it that come along.
If a complete stranger were to ever go onto a campus, staff members would be able to distinguish the intruder because everyone would be wearing the same thing. The intruder would be easier to spot among the crowd. Uniforms also create safety when a group of children go on field trip. It is easy for one student to get distracted and lose the group. However, when the teacher tries to find the student and speaks to the officials about the lost child, the student will be easy to identify because he or she will be wearing a school uniform. Children tend to break off into "cliques," and uniforms could possibly help unite students. Finding creative ways to express their individuality through other outlets other than fashion can help children forge friendships based on their common interests. In conclusion, I feel that school uniforms are something all schools should consider implementing in their policy. All of these points show that they could be budget-friendly, help children focus, and lower the barriers children can build up because of merely what they are wearing.
Do you remember what your wardrobe was like during high school? Maybe you wore the latest in brand name clothing, anything that wasn’t associated with gang signs, or whatever hand me downs you could get. The reality is physical violence is common between children because of the name brand on a jacket or a pair of jeans. Children are being ridiculed because their families simply can't afford to provide them with the latest in fashion. In our larger cities where gang involvement is prevalent, children are killed because they choose to wear the wrong color to school. This concern is not about civil liberties or freedom of expression, it's about improving the educational environment within our public school systems nationwide. If this is a possible solution to the issues faced in public schools, is expressing one’s self with brand name clothing not worth giving up? and I went to private school where I was required to wear uniforms. I saw a strong correlation between wearing uniforms and prevention of school violence. I’m here today to talk about why uniforms prevent school violence. I will speak about how it prevents students from ridicule, theft and gang violence.
In today’s society more school are converting to wearing uniforms. They’re people who agree and people that disagree with this converting; however, is wearing school uniforms good or bad for kids? School shouldn’t be about fashion and expression, it needs to be about education; furthermore, uniforms are one of the ways to lead education back to the forefront once again for schools and it not be about who’s wearing what. The answers you will receive from some kids and parents will be yes, for the others it will be no. Research has been done to prove that wearing uniforms help some kids, but what is that research based on? Kids are constantly changing and growing, learning about school, the world, and their bodies. So much is going on with kids. We want them to do well in school, that’s the ultimate goal, so they can be successful in life. Will the use of school uniforms help them to be successful in life?
Before school uniforms were even thought of children use to wear their regular clothing to school. It did not matter what they wore as long as they got their education. There were even some cases where children wore the same clothing to school each day, because their parents could not afford to buy new ones. However, when school uniforms became known and began to become popular, schools began to turn to them.
