Poor Nutrition Poor nutrition, also known as malnutrition, is when the human body does not get enough nutrients. This can lead to illnesses and fatigueness to ourselves because nutrients act as a fuel to our body, without the nutrients, our bodies can not run for that long. A lack of nutrients can also lead to obesity and/or diabetes, which Americans tend to ignore. A couple of solutions are to monitor your eating habits, eat more fruits and vegetables, and to possibly go vegetarian. Malnutrition is having the habit of eating too much or too little foods, with the tendency to eat less nutrients in our foods. Most of the Americans are not eating the right food, making them unhealthy, especially Americans that are older than 60. As a person who ingested foods that lacked nutrition, I became very unhealthy and could barely walk up a flight of stairs without having to stop. When we eat our food, we do not take into account the fact that not everything we eat includes all of the nutrients and vitamins needed for our body. Most Americans do not know the effects of GMOs and processed food, which they are harmful to our bodies and are modified to give us unnatural nutrients. Many people make excuses for not eating healthy. “...as soon as my son goes to college, I’ll have time to cook healthier meals.” (Dailey and Ellin 578). This is basically to stall the processes of eating healthy, which leads to not having enough nutrients. I can relate to most people as well.
