What it means to be an effective educator is that you are able to reach all of your learners and teach them in a way they can understand. This means planning for different kinds of learners for each lesson, and making time for small group instruction for those students who are not quite grasping the instructional content. It also means that the educator is patient and understanding. It is important, especially in early childhood, that the educator is patient because this is a whole new world to these kids, most of them are not used to being in school all day. So we have to take that into consideration, and make adjustments. Effective educators put their students needs first.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) is the term frequently applied to the education of young children from birth through age 8. Although early childhood education has existed since the creation of kindergarten in the 1800s, the last decade has seen a tremendous amount of attention devoted to the subject of early education for young children.
There are many theories surrounding the application of early childhood education. There have been many theorists and researchers whom have submitted factual information and strategies that has helped educators over the years. I believe that my personal beliefs about early childhood education is a combination of several theorists. In the world that we live in, not all people or children are created the same. There are several factors which make up a person’s mindset. People learn and process information differently depending on several different factors.
The modern early childhood curriculum refers to the experiences gathered throughout a child’s infancy and beyond. It incorporates everyday interactions with family members within a wide spectrum of environments. Such interactions can be spontaneous or structured however, it is important that they are established within a supportive, safe and nurturing setting in order for the child to flourish in terms of their mental and physical ability ( O’Hagen,and Smith (1998). We refer to such a curriculum as Child centered as equal emphasis must be made on the child’s learning through out infancy as it is within a formal education setting.
I believe the purpose of Early Childhood are to stimulate and encourage the development of all important areas such as language, physical, cognitive, social, emotionally as well as spiritually. Early Childhood educators provide children with the right experiences and environment for a child’s growth, so there can be more productive members in our society.

In this field there are four learning goals that early programs have for a young child. The four learning goals are: knowledge, skills, disposition and emotional states. With a successful care giving and early education, it can bring a positive outcome to a child’s life. What a child learns in their early years are things that will continue to help them along in their future in school and in the real world. From the perspective I have at this stage in my journey in the early childhood education field, I would like to share what I have come to value and believe in regards to early learning and care by looking at my philosophy statement. To begin we will look at the statement and highlight three key features and find out why they are important to me, then we will see what they will look like in my practice, and lastly we will examine these ideas closely by looking at where they originated.
