Now, I understand that you may be very busy at this moment, but i hope that you will continue reading. I have spent a while writing this letter in hopes that it will persuade you to help me on a matter.I am writing to you on behalf of many, many children. I say that because I am writing you concerning Child Abuse. It is in the rage and I am in need of you help to get rid of it. You may be wondering why I care. Well, I am a fourteen-year old girl. Being fourteen, I am still considered a “child.” I am also around children a lot, so when I hear that child abuse is a major problem in my state, it saddens me. I fear that as time passes, it will only get worse and worse.Abuse matters just as much as anything. It is wrong to punish a child in that manner. Many children all over Utah are being abused, but they never speak up. Being abused as a child can affect them their entire life. The 8th amendment says “No cruel or unusual punishment.” That goes for children too. Some people excuse their abusive behavior by saying that they were “Punishing their child.” but let me tell you, there is a major difference between punishing and abusing. The article by Global Issues on Child abuse states: “ the line between ‘acceptable’ hitting and physical abuse is sometimes blurry.” Child abuse should definitely be stopped. It can harm the child for their entire life changing the way they live. Child abuse is such a terrible problem in Utah. I hope that you can help me solve this problem. After reading about all that Child abuse can do to a child and why it is bad, let's talk about something we can do to stop it.I think that we should put out the word that if someone is being abused, speak up!
