Dear Fellow Senators, I am present today to share with you that I believe Julius Caesar should live. I support this opinion because Julius was one of the greatest generals and leaders in ancient history. Also, he made many improvements in society. Finally, Julius was considered a military genius. I assure you that after I am finished with this speech, you will support my position that Julius should live. My first reason is that Caesar was one of the greatest generals in history. He didn’t only lead armies and conquer land, but he was also very generous and gave land to the poor. Without him, Rome would have been in trouble, they could have possibly lost every war. Also, people praised Julius for his incredible leadership, they held celebrations and parties all for his victories. In the article, Ancient Civilizations, the text states, “ As a Roman ruler, Caesar made many improvements. He put honest men in government positions. He made taxes fairer and gave land to the poor.” All of these things are important improvements, thanks to Julius, he changes society. He added more people into the senate, it stayed that way and became a tradition for Rome. If Julius didn’t make that change, the senate would be different. Our government could have possibly been different because since Rome won the Punic Wars, we have their type of government. My second reason is that Caesar made taxes more fair. This helped the society because it made it easier and more equal to pay taxes. Finally, he gave land to the poor and he granted citizenship to the people who weren't born in Rome. This shows that Julius is very honorable to everybody, he helped the people that their land got conquered and the poor now had land.
