Julius Caesar In the story “Killing Caesar” by Jon Herman, it is apparent that Julius Caesar was a Roman hero. Caesar had done many great things for Rome, like conquering territory and making it a place the citizens had pride to live in. Julius Caesar may have not been a hero like Batman or Superman, but he surely should be viewed as a hero in history forever. The senators of Rome who murdered Caesar even knew he was a hero. They only killed him because they were threatened by the great amount of power Caesar had. Julius Caesar had the approval of a high amount of Roman citizens, they all loved him. How could they not? He was a hero and an outstanding leader!

They think he ruled by force and didn’t care for his people. These people basically see Caesar as just being a power-hungry leader. However, it is clear in the way he helps his people live a better life that Julius Caesar was in fact a true hero. If Caesar was a tyrant, he would have ruled by force and Rome would have had much stricter laws. Also, Julius Caesar would have been focused on getting absolute power and not leading a military into conquering territory. If he was really hungry for power, he could set rules to make life tough on Romans. Instead, he dedicated his time into making life better for all citizens, especially ones of the middle and lower classes. Therefore, Julius Caesar was clearly a hero to the Roman Empire.
Even though he may not have been a hero like you would see in a comic book, Julius Caesar was surely heroic to the Roman people. His conquering of land, strength as a military leader, and care for his citizens all show his greatness. Also, many more than half of Roman citizens absolutely loved Caesar.
