Transgender people are just like us, there's no difference except they feel like they were born the wrong gender. Lots of people say that if you were born one gender you cannot change your gender and that's the way it is. Like if you were born a man, you would be a man and could not identify as a female. But I think that you should be able to be whatever gender you truly feel like you are. An issue from this is about what bathroom transgender people should use. Transgender people should be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they feel that they are. Some people may say that they shouldn’t because people could use this for wrong reasons that wouldn’t make people feel safe. My first reason that transgender people should be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender they identify as is because if you had surgery to look like that gender then you belong in that bathroom. An article from Washington Post says “A person who identifies as a man should be permitted to use men’s bathrooms, and a person who identifies as a woman should be permitted to use women’s restrooms.”. It would only make sense because if you are a girl or identify/look like a girl you wouldn’t use the men's …show more content…

Debate.org says “Trans people should and need to use the bathrooms which their gender is associated with. A trans woman should not be forced to use the men's room where she at risk of being assaulted. She is a woman, and she deserves to be the ladies room where she is safest!”. Not everyone is ok with transgender people, some people may find it weird, uncomfortable, nasty or awkward to have a person of the opposite gender use their bathroom. The transgender person using the bathroom may feel unsafe and uncomfortable in this environment and could possibly get assaulted and hurt.
