This is not a fair practice, and it elevates one power over another. It’s honestly reminiscent of earlier struggles with race relations. There is danger in ignoring how these sorts of situations played out in the past. If transgendered people are permitted to use the bathroom of their choice, this will bring them happiness. It will also save those who have traits that resemble the opposite sex from embarrassment.
Transgender people are regular people who do not deserve the amount of discrimination directed towards them as they get right now. “Transgender” is an umbrella term that includes gender non-conforming people, transsexuals (female-to-male and male-to-female), drag queens and kings, cross dressers, bi-gender people, and genderqueers/genderfluid people. All of those terms deal with gender identity and not conforming to society's gender norms. Of course, some transgender people believe they were always the gender they chose/choose to be, so the use of female-to-male and male-to-female can be seen as transphobic to such people. The pronouns that transgender people use may vary.
This however, only aggravates the difficulties that already exist within the changes occurring, due to the comfort level of having to different genders share the same restroom. Contrary to popular belief this does not happen often, because the transgender person will habitually if not always use the bathroom they feel best matches their gender. (Transequality, 2016). It is common misunderstandings such as these examples that are averting people from supporting and comprehending how basic the issue is. Like everyone else the trans population would like equal access to public restrooms.
Some individuals also simply refer to themselves as nonbinary to indicate that they identify with both or neither gender. Gender Dysphoria -- Meaning According to the case report written by Tatjana Sajevets “gender dysphoria is defined as a marked incongruence between one’s experienced and one’s assigned gender… characterized by a strong desire to get rid of one’s primary and/or secondary sex characteristics and to have the primary and/or secondary sex characteristics of the other gender.” In other words, gender dysphoria occurs when an individual’s gender and sex do not line up. Due to the rise of acceptance of transgender people, more and more trans people have been seeking help to reconnect these two characteristics, surgically and psychologically. What Does This
This law concedes the right of transgendered students to use bathrooms based on their gender identity. They can also participate in sports based on their gender identity too. The opposition contends that this bill may create unnecessary awkward situations for both males and females. All in all, a transgendered individual is defined as someone who does not identify with their biological sex, rather, they identify as another gender; it is not a mental disorder. Transgendered people are portrayed in the media as either molesters or insane killers in television shows and political advertisements.
Feminism is the campaign to equality for all genders, just as LGBTA is the movement for all gender identities and sexual/romantic orientations, according to most within the campaign. Despite being just as human as any person, women, (people of all) gender identities and romantic/sexual orientations are discriminated against, and do not have the same rights as cisgender heterosexual males. Feminism culture is the drive for equality among females and all gender people that are not specifically ‘Male’. There are thousand of misconceptions about what Feminism is, and what Feminism isn’t. To start, Feminism is not about hating men, ‘Destroying the Patriarchy’ or making Women the dominant gender.
Within the transgender community, it is not that black and white. A transgender person is defined as somebody whose gender identity is different than the sex they were assigned with at birth (“New Law”). In simpler terms, it is a person who identifies as the opposite sex. This makes choosing which restroom to use when in public a difficult decision. A person born as a male but who identifies as a female would feel very uncomfortable in the men’s bathroom, yet could be in trouble for going into the women’s restroom.
This however, only aggravates the difficulties that already exist within the changes occurring, because it causes some to feel uncomfortable at the thought of two different sexes sharing one bathroom at the same time. Although this is often not the case, because the transgender person will often if not always use the bathroom they feel best matches their gender. (Transequality, 2016). It is common misinterpretations such as these that are averting people from supporting and understanding how simple the issue is. Like everyone else the trans population would like equal access to public restrooms.
They felt that they are obliged to fulfill society’s standards for their new gender. A transgender is a person who acts like the opposite sex but did not go through a sex change. (in-text citation) In the movie, you could see how they try to do the gender roles for the opposite sex. They try to behave as feminine as possible. Many transgenders do not see themselves as “transgenders”, instead they are convinced and belief that they belong to the opposite sex but they were born in the wrong biological category or body.
The term gender may not be exactly referring to someone’s gender identity so the terms are not always interchangeable. Gender includes aspects of social like that are assigned to men or women. An individual’s gender identity is not an equal variable to their sex that they were assigned at birth. Sex is the biological sex that your reproductive system and genital organs align with. No one has control over their sex the same way no one has any control over their gender identity.
