Persuasive Essay On Race

Race is a dangerous subject, it can be turned into a heated argument with one word. It’s a very touchy subject to even the most conformed person. Why? It’s touchy because it’s something we can’t change about ourselves, the history of it all tells of tragedy or privilege. By tragedy I mean things such as mass genocide of Native Americans by our “founder” and/or “hero” Christopher Columbus, or the slavery of blacks. By privilege I mean the only privileged race there is, Caucasians; I’m not going to sit here and cry about it and blatantly say white people will always be ahead of everyone (even though that’s the truth) it helps me sleep at night thinking that I went for an interview with the same background and achievements as me, that it would …show more content…

Because I’m black?” in a serious moment makes you a joke to whoever you’re talking to since it’s so overly used, so instead of pulling the race card I feel as though we as a people need to thoroughly dissect people not of color who say these softer more subtle discriminative sayings and figure out why they said that so we can change their mind about our people instead of playing the part of the extremely offended stereotype that everyone knows and entertains. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be mad at these sayings but I’m just reintegrating myself and saying that violence makes us worse, revenge makes us worse, education and critical thinking makes us better. The reason I say this is because I truly feel like this “system” is designed for us (African Americans) to fail, as a young man I feel like the only way I can make it past one million dollars is to make music or be a professional athlete, I feel like people think I can automatically rap just because of my skin color or I’m automatically good at sports just because I’m black.
You would be surprised one of my good friends said something to me last week that really shook me he said, ”At jakes I was dancing with a lot of nigs it was so fun I wish you would’ve came with us.” Nigs? Really? Nigs. This is the type of incoherent bullshit that I have to deal with all the time its blatantly disrespectful to me and my entire race and I’m starting to become sick of it, but of course me being angry about something like that depicts a completely different stereotype where I play the aggressive angry black man which is exactly what white America wants me to
