According to World Health Organization, “Throughout the world many adults, and some children, spend most waking hours at work.” (7) When people mention work we instantly think of our jobs, where we physically go into a building, our boss tells us what get done with today. Then we get so frustrated when we have to bring work home, but do we ever stop to think about our kids. Almost every night children are given homework to complete before the next day. Is homework for the children not the same as homework for adults? With life being as stressful as it is we should not add more stress to the lives of the children, the lives of the parents, or the lives of the teachers by handing out homework.

If the child does not complete the homework then the parent either gets a phone call or has to schedule a parent teacher conference. Both of these situations mean that after a long day of work you have to make extra time to go and see a teacher about your child’s grades. As parents you also have the job of making sure your child is healthy and happy, but if a child is spending anywhere from three to four hours a night on homework is this truly helping them? Not including the stress adults get from house payments, insurance bills, or any debt they may have now they have the added stress of making sure their child is happy and healthy but also making sure they are doing what they are supposed to …show more content…

So if she follows the curriculum given to her by the school board she has to hand out homework. By sending out homework the teacher adds more stress to herself because she in turn has to grade the homework, deal with parents complaints about the homework, grade any test or quizzes taken, and prepare her lessons for the next day. After all of her grading and preparing she then has to make time for herself, and her family. This is a lot, having all of this on your plate does absolutely nothing except create more stress for the teacher. This stress can accumulate and in turn cause the teacher to receive a stress related injury causing her to be out of school for a while. From my personal experience it is very difficult for students when teachers are in and out of the classroom because of illnesses. So here again we see how just by adding homework the damaging effects it can
