So, if we can reduce costs, in order to promote more research into components that make the electric car better, we must focus more on government incentives for providing research programs. These government programs will allow car industries to develop the best model of the electric car than can possibly exist. For example, California is heading in this direction when it comes to the government providing financial assistance. In the article, “Should California Spend $3 Billion to Help People Buy Electric Cars?” by Russ Mitchell, he states that the proposed bill will double down on the rebate program. Electric car sales can also increase if we can promote awareness of the vehicle and it’s benefits to the environment. One step towards promoting awareness of the electric car can be done through public education. If more schools had campaigns or fairs promoting the benefits of electric car vehicles, especially at college constitutions, then electric car sales can increase. Most college students are at the age where driving is how they commute to work or school. They can be the most influenced or persuaded. The more people know about the electric car being a viable option, consumers will be more open to this lifestyle change. A second step towards promoting awareness is hosting events that promote electric vehicles (“The Best City Programs Promoting Electric Cars”). Promoting awareness can also be done to television or internet advertisements as well. It is all about getting the message out there. It is also important to provide good counter arguments to the people who try to bring the electric car down and voice their negative opinions with evidence and in a calm and collective manner.
