The student must request the cancellation of a class at least 12 hours in advance. If they cancel less than 12 hours in advance, the class will be considered as taken, it will not be entitled to replacement and the teacher will be duly paid.
There are 3 situations in which we usually like to make an exception: a) When it is the first time that the student requests a cancellation without notice, we "cut them some slack" as a warning before considering the class as taken. This is because often the student forgets this rule or did not pay attention to it in the contract, and we just warn them once again. b) When the student cancels at least 10 hours in advance, often the student intended to notify within 12 hours, but did not pay attention to the time and ended up cancelling after the deadline. We find it fair to allow replacement when they give notice at least 10 hours in advance, giving these two hours as a margin so that the student does not feel disadvantaged. c) When the cancellation was due to an emergency, such as unexpected sickness, death of a relative, broken down car or something that the student had no way of predicting in advance. …show more content…

The teacher must have autonomy to discern when we must make an exception, according to the criteria above, or can always contact us when in doubt. In the event of an exception, the teacher must not include the class imediately in the Progress Card, only after the replacement. In case of considering the class as taken, the teacher must write the class in the Progress Card filling with the scheduled date and time, and writing "cancelled" in the "next lesson" column.
