Waking up at 3am to be at work at 4am, I am feeling tired and just want to hit the snooze and go back to sleep, but I know if I don’t get up I am going to be late for work. I get up and ready and leave for work. I work an eight-hour shift on my feet all day. I then come home to house chores and homework. I get a load of laundry started and pull out what I need for dinner that night. I know in a few hours the kids will be home. I want to take a nap but I have homework to work on so I do that instead. Before I know it my alarm is going off. That means it’s 3:30pm and time to start working on getting dinner ready for the hungry kids walking in the door any minute. Kids are home now seeking my attention and my husband is walking through the door as I am shutting off the stove, dinner is …show more content…
The job market right now is fierce and competitive. Many jobs require a higher education rather than a high school diploma. With so many places closing and relocating or just closing completely there are less jobs and more people competing for those jobs. I personally have had this experience twice. I was working for a plant where I made wheels and the plant closed down and moved to Mexico. Thousands lost their job. I was one of them. This makes going back to school even more important. With my degree and experience, I will be able to get a job in my career field much easier then what I can right now. There are more options out there for someone with a bachelor’s degree then there are for those with just a high school diploma. I will be able to be pickier about where I want to work and compete for higher paid jobs. With a higher education and better job it will help me to feel more accomplished and successful. I will be able to find something that makes me happy and feel good about myself. I will feel like I have the ability to provide for my family adequately while making a difference at the same
Education is a huge topic of controversy, society is always trying to reform what we know as education today. Right now, the first 12 years of education are entirely free for students directly, but in the end are paid for by the taxpayers of the town. The question is, why should only grades k-12 be free why not a college education too? On the other hand, there are some exceptions to free schooling at the k-12 levels. The most prominent being, Private schooling, most towns in the United States have at least one if not many private schools. They require a certain amount in tuition for each of its students every year. An example of this, in my town Salem, NH one of the most known private catholic schools is St. Joseph 's. I had a good friend a few years back
Figuring out if they should find jobs right out of high school or go to college first. Nevertheless, most people are sure that they want to have a better job. Not only one that will pay more, but one they are pleased with, and one that makes him/her happy. Today, practically 60 percent of all jobs in the United States require their employers to have a higher education. Jobs for individuals who only have a high school diploma are decreasing. A large majority of high school graduates work in some type of service industry. These individuals also work in low paying jobs with no position to advance. On the other hand, college graduates tend to have more skills that qualify them for a much larger range of employment opportunities. This makes it easier for them to move up in positions. According to Catherine Rampell, “there are more employed college graduates today than employed high school graduates and high school dropouts put together” (678). Thus, as the economy progresses over the years to come, college graduates will be better placed to find jobs that will offer a larger amount of pay. Therefore, earning a college degree will greatly enhance your marketability as a professional.
We all know public school has its issues. There can be rude people or horrible teachers. Each person is forced to learn the exact same and act like one person. No one is an individual and is forced to act as a machine. Sadly these “machines” are humans, and do not work like a perfect robot. It is common knowledge that many students struggle in public school due to the fact they are not taught in a way to fit their needs. They end up declining in their studies and it is as if they are destined to fail. Some of those struggling students cannot reach the expectations that are set by educators who do not know or understand the pupil. They too are setup to fail. But there is a solution to all of this, and it is homeschool. It is accepted in some
Having a college degree in today’s world is very important because more companies and businesses are requiring that anyone they hire has at least a two-year college degree, which is also known as an Associate 's degree. High school graduates and other people who have had thoughts about going to college should do so because it is getting harder for just a high school graduate to get a job, this is a result of hiring companies and businesses don’t want anyone without a college degree. Having a college degree will open more opportunities for the future. By doing so they further their lives and create a future that they want.
People with a college degree tend to make more money than those who didn’t attend college. This is because most of the jobs that have a higher earning require a college degree. People that only get their school diploma don’t make as much money as someone with a college degree. A study done suggest that people who have a college degree are more likely to get hired because they have an education compared to those who don’t. According to the United States Bureau people who achieved the current degrees earned the following median salaries. People with a doctorate degree earn $100,000 or more. With a bachelor’s degree people earn $58,000 and people with an associates earn $42,000 or more(Lucier). A High School diploma is not worth as much as a college degree. A High school diploma means less today because of the shaping of the world. People who only have a high school diploma earn only about $33,000. These numbers also depend on the type of field that you are going into. For example, people that have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or management will earn a little bit more (Lynn). They will earn more because these fields are really important. In my opinion the United States has been transformed
Albert Einstein once said “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is it stupid.” Sir Ken Robinson stated that schools are destroying children 's creativity with their curriculum, there are many facts that support this idea. Students are required to think a specific way, prepare the way teachers want them to be prepared. Students also have their own opinion, because they are not afraid to be wrong, and need a way to move forward.
The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. It is time to help the struggling middle and lower classes. I believe that the best
Going to college has multiple positive outcomes. In the article, “Next Time Someone Says ‘College isn’t Worth it,’ Show Them This,” written by, Kevin short, it states “People with bachelor’s degrees make around $300,000 more over their lifetimes than those with just a high school education...” By going to college, you get the opportunity to receive higher paying jobs than those that just went to high school. Short also stated, “... to make up the costs of getting a bachelor’s degree… Today it takes on average 10 years.” The amount of time it takes college graduates has lessened 15 years in the past 48 years. As time goes on, the amount of time it takes to repay college debts will continue to lessen. Some people worry about the cost the most.
After finishing college you can be ahead of your colleagues. Your qualification will determine your position in the company you work in, also will increase your anual salary. “College graduates earn more, and are more likely to have a job in the first place” (Rotherham 79). Unemployment is a serious issue in the U.S. This topic is brought countless amount of times. Unemployment rates for people with college degrees are far less than a person with only a high school diploma. Also the chances of someone getting laid off is also far less likely versus someone with a high school diploma. In the article “Why college isnt for everyone” by Richard Vedder the author mentions “A person who compares the annual earning of college and high school graduates would no doubt conclude that higher education is a good investment” (Vedder
Secondly, students who get a college degree will have many opportunities open up for them. There will be more jobs waiting for them after they graduate. When they graduate they can go straight to work in the field of their interest and for which they studied. In today’s world, many jobs require a college degree rather than a high school diploma. Blanche D. Blank, author of “A Question of Degree”, implies that “with the ability to do paraprofessional mental-health works are lost to jobs they could hold with pleasure and profit because the training program also requires a two-yea...
During the great recession, employments requiring higher educations developed by 187,000, while occupations requiring some college of an associate’s degree fell by 1.75 million and employments requiring a high school education or less fell by 5.6 million. In numerous fields like designing, accounting, education, medicinal services, a four year college education is required for entry-level positions. It 's anything but difficult to see how a degree opens up an entire vista of chances that would just be out of reach generally. The potential opportunities open doors are considerably more noteworthy in number for those with graduate degrees. Gain a terminal degree in your field, and the sky 's the
Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
Going into college everyone expects us to know what we want to do with the rest of our life. That is a huge decision to make after living only 18 years. Dropouts make up the majority of those
In like manner, if students become apathetic about attending school, they will reap the consequences of a poor education and, in turn, will not attain a degree. Hence, the question arises, why are they [students] not attending school? Though, the explanation may not be a simplistic one, some jump to the bias conclusion that these particular students are delinquents or quite frankly despise school, but, the issue may be more complex that that. In the case of such apathy towards school, bullying could be the culprit. In addition, clothing choices may or may not have something to do with said bullying. In this case, uniforms could greatly improve attendance records due to the roadblock they place between issues at school, such as bullying, and lack of
