The impact of the personality profiles we took in class affected our group only a little bit since we didn’t have enough time to explore that idea, but looking back at our group before we took the profile test I can see how our personalities both worked well together and not. Our group’s profiles were that Kerry was high C, Zac was a high I, Clay was a mix of everything, and I was a high S. We did learn later on after our project was done that Janine was a High I; I assumed she could have been high D. Having all different personalities did come in handy in group situations and tasks. An example was that Zac did bring a lot of humor that was need during our group activities or during the planning of our project. Kerry did help us with perfecting our group motto and made the group idea to call ourselves JACKZ. …show more content…
Then with me I did comfort an individual in our group after class and tried to make sure that with every decision we made that we all agreed with it. We did have a little bit of every personality in our group, but I honest think that we need a driver to help to be more goal orientated and to make faster decisions. Though there are negative stereotypes for a high D if we had more of those traits like being quick and decisive it would have benefit our group greatly. We could planned things better and kept on time with assignments. We did compensate for that with me and Janine adapting those traits to benefit the group; this did lead me on to think that Janine was a possible high D. In the end, I wish we had more time to play around with our personalities as a group then just the time we had in class which could have been done if we had made more time for the social
These types of personality assessments are useful because they can help us see how each of us are different and how we each fit into our roles and responsibilities. Life would not be nearly as functional if we were all the same, and personality assessments can be useful by showing us how we all can work together and see our strengths and weaknesses in a way that can help us improve them.
Everybody's personality is different. Some may be extraversion's or narcissists, low self-monitoring or high self-monitoring and the list goes on. During this semester, taking Personality Theories has thought me more about myself than I have learned in my whole life. I believe that my personality stems from my family environment, my friends and society and then I get to choose what I think to be morally correct and what fits with my personality the best.
I was not significantly surprised at my results of the Personal Inventory Assessment (PIA). My personal results indicated that I have a healthy balance of patience, competitiveness, and engagement when it comes to measuring my personality (Personal Inventory Assessments, 2016). Over the course of my career I have developed my leadership skills, along with my level of self-awareness, to understand the need to approach my work as a collaborative effort and not a self-fulfilling journey. My decision making preference rated highest as a participatory style (Personal Inventory Assessments, 2016). I do believe that there are many times when a decision needs to be group based and not individual given the impact that the decision may have on the group as a whole. I can
In the day to day life, experiences and connections are made. Many things that occur in one’s life can all stem from their individual personality, but interpreting how one’s personality guides their life presents a difficult challenge. Many actions, quirks, and patterns that a person has are easily noted due to the ability to see it, but the puppeteer behind these habits is an individual’s personality. A certain personality type can affect the perception of certain events and the reactions/feelings to certain outcomes. While one person might see a situation as dreadful, another may see it entirely different. We tend to find ourselves side by side with people we see similarities between due to a parallel in certain traits, but no two individuals are exactly the same based on differences in personality. Success is hinged on many things and one of those things is the development of self-awareness. To know oneself is key to tackling on intimidating tasks and situations, but to also grow in terms of knowledge and synergy. In my attempt to
People have studied personalities for thousands of years. Personality assessments have existed for the past 100 years. There are several different tests available to help you understand yourself and others better. Once this is achieved, the idea is to foster better communication based upon the knowledge of the traits of your team.
One of the biggest factors in the cultivation of an individual’s personality is their past. The past is the road that delivered the individual to where they are today and will affect where they are going in the future. Mine shaped the characteristics that define me and made me the person that I am today.
In the workplace it is essential individuals understand both their own personalities and also how to interact with other people based on their personalities. “Understanding others and how they function is a first step towards having good interpersonal relationships in the work environment and thereby enhancing personal effectiveness” (Chauhan & Chauhan, 2006, p. 357-358). Individual personalities can vary greatly and it is highly possible for different personalities to clash when working together, particularly in team situations. Different personalities within work groups help to influence the team performance in two distinct ways. Firstly, as an input factor, which...
Personality involves a blend of characteristics that make one unique. In reviewing personality, we consider the influence of the interactions that one is engaged in, the nature or the environment of one's upbringing and genetics. The characteristic traits may change over time while some of them becoming a lasting part of a person’s personality. In this essay will analyze the theories that relate to the character and the various stages that children undergo during development. We will use the same theories and developmental stages in analysis my progress from childhood up to date.
Personality tests tell a person a lot about why a person is who they have become. I believe that these test if taken truthfully can identify deficiencies that individuals can work on to benefit not only themselves but others in the organizations that they work in. Some models state that it is in human nature and chemicals that decided how a person acts but I believe it is based on life experiences and a personality can change as long as a person knows the deficiencies and works to change them.
There are many types of diverse people classified under various categories. Some people have different types of personalities. They could be classified as extremely manipulative, others as impulsive, and some may not show anything on the outside and have wonderful social skills. These categories help in the understanding of humans. This study is called Psychology and there are many different subfields in this diverse study of the people around us. I am always getting to class on time and quite in the class. I do not use phone in class neither talk with friends while the teacher is teaching. I always take a long time to do activities and get hard time to make a decision.
Type A Personality or Type A Behavior Pattern (TABP) include typical responses of competitiveness, time urgency, and hostility. Type A’s normally strive towards a goal without feeling a sense of joy in their efforts or accomplishments. They also seem to be in a constant struggle against the clock and become impatient with any delays and unproductive time. Type A’s also tend to see the worse in others and display anger, envy and lack of compassion (McLeod, 2017).
what personality type that I have is very important to be successful in life, whether it be for
Learning about the different types helped me better understand them and made working with group members with such different personalities easier. Realizing that everyone is different, thinks in different ways, and learns in different ways is important and makes working together a lot less challenging. Having different personality types is beneficial because it lets you look at things from different perspectives and viewpoints. This lesson was also interesting because I didn’t know what my own Myer’s Briggs personality type was before. I learned that I am INFJ (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging). Knowing my own personality type also helped me see why I act certain ways and prefer certain things. We also learned about Type A and Type B personalities. I’m still not sure which one I am because I think I fall more in between the two. Type A individuals are more time conscious, competitive, aggressive, drive themselves with deadlines, and get stressed easily. Type B individuals are more relaxed, patient, and easy-going. My group in this class had some members who were very Type B and some who were very Type A. It was interesting how this worked because they balanced each other out in a way. The people who got very stressed with deadlines and wanted to get everything done in advance (Type A) were helpful in keeping us on track. Those who
Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo-Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting
