As there are many different types of personalities, each personality is exerted in its own special way. My overall personality that includes extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. Extraverts enjoy being with people, are full of energy, and often experience positive emotions. I scored to be average on the extraversion portion of the personality test. Agreeableness reflects individual differences in concern with cooperation and social harmony. I scored to be average on the agreeableness portion of the test. I gathered these percentages from four theories including psychodynamic, humanistic, biological and social cognitive. An example from my life of psychodynamic would be that as a child my dad spent a lot of time with me, affecting and making me into the person that I am today. An example from my life of humanistic is how my mother tries to encourage me when I say bad things about myself. An example from my life of biological is that when I answer my mother’s phone, everyone always thinks that it is my mother because I talk and sound like her. An example from my life of the social cognitive theory is the way my niece acts to me, compared to how she acts with her friends. The sub domain trait that I would change would be vulnerability. I scored an 84 in the vulnerability portion of the test, and I think I am way to vulnerable. I think this may also have a lot to do with genetics, I think my mom and grandma are both way to vulnerable. I wish I could change this trait because I give people way too many chances, and I hurt myself by doing this. I am way too nice, and that is why I give so many chances. If I wasn’t so vulnerable, I wouldn’t get so stressed about problems I allow others to throw off on me. I think if I was not so vulnerable, then I wouldn’t be near as stressed, and I wouldn’t have as much

Three aspects of my personality are avoidant, high on conscientiousness and a high need for achievement. These personality characteristics were studied using different theories, the attachment theory, Big Five, and the motivational theory. Together, these aspects make me who I am. I am someone who is driven, hard working, disciplined, and has a hard time trusting and letting other people into my personal life. My score on extraversion was 22, low again compared to the norm. For this trait, I agreed with my results at first, but after some thinking I realized although I am introverted, I do behave extravertly sometimes. In general, I prefer working alone, staying indoors, and I don’t like being around a lot of people. For example, when given a group project, I’d prefer working on my own. Yet most of the time, I end up being the group leader because I get along well with people and am usually optimistic. Basically, I prefer settings with less people, but I can mingle well with strangers at parties or functions. Most of my friends and myself included, would say I am extraverted because I make friends easily and am usually very happy and cheerful. But that is only partially true because I do behave differently depending on the situation and my role as a friend, student, employee, etc. Therefore, I don’t agree with my results overall. My personality type is Extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceptive or ENFP. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling. There has yet to be any determining evidence defines the characteristics of extraversion. The experimenters in this particular experiment have hypothesized that the facets of extraversion are somehow linked by reward sensitivity. This hypothesis was also tested against a model in which they are linked by sociability. There has been much work on this topic in the past, beginning with the works of Jung and James in the early 20th century—to the work of Watson and Clark in 1997. And even after a century of study, they are still unable to truly define the characteristics of the extraversion dimension of personality. In the many attempts to define extraversion, Watson and Clark have defined six basic facets of the personality trait. These are: venturesome, affiliation, positive affectivity, energy, ascendance, and ambition. Researchers Depue and Collins, in 1999, also offered a more succinct depiction of the characteristics of extraversion, this only having three basic parts. The first being affiliation, the enjoyment and value of close interpersonal bonds, also being warm and affectionate. The second, agency, being socially dominant, enjoying leadership roles, being assertive and exhibitionistic, and having a sense of potency in accomplishing goals. The final facet being impuslivity, but this one has been argued upon whether it should be included at all in the characteristics of extraversion at all.

What is personality and why do we study it? For more than 100 years psychologists have been trying to define exactly what personality is and is not. According to our text, personality is defined as “consistent behavior patterns and intrapersonal processes originating within the individual” (Burger, J., 2005, p. 4) The seven major approaches to personality are Freudian psychoanalytic, Neo-Freudian psychoanalytic, trait, biological, humanistic, behavioral/social learning, and cognitive. Since I scored moderately, I fall in both categories. Although some would argue that their results are nowhere near correct, I would say that mine were, for the most part, spot on. I did conjure up a few disagreements; however, a more detailed and longer test might be able to give me a more in depth and accurate rating of my personality. The conclusions of my test say that I am moderately open to experience, highly conscientious, moderately extraverted, and high in both agreeableness and neuroticism.
The study of personality traits is beneficial in identifying the many variables that exist from human to human; the combinations of these variables provide us with a true level of individuality and uniqueness. In the field of psychology, trait theory is considered to be a key approach to the study of human personality (Crowne, 2007; Burton, Westen & Kowalski, 2009). This paper aims to identify a number of significant contributors who have played crucial roles in both the development and application of trait theory. This paper then moves focus to these theorists, outlining their theory and analysing both the strengths and weaknesses of those theories. An illustration of the methods used in trait measurement is given and includes the arguments for and against such procedures.
What is my personality? How do we develop our individual personalities? Was I born with a preset personality? And if so can my personality be changed well into adulthood? These are questions I asked myself, while I gather my thoughts as to what my personal theory of personality is. So far in my quest of self discovery and introspection, I can see that individual personality can be altered and is very adaptive throughout life. I see this in the ways that may individuals go into counseling and with time and true determination are able to move at times from unstable personality condition into healthier state of being. I truly believe that many aspects of theories already developed can be used to explain the development of personalities. Some of the most important theories that impact the development of my personality theory are the biological, attachment, and cognitive theories.

2) On Conscientiousness, I rank very high – 86%. I also agree with this placement. I am well-organized and reliable. I feel that this part of my personality weighs down my openness to new experiences above. I’m very careful and calculated, taking care to get things right. 3) In Extraversion I ranked very low at just 7 percent. This is probably an accurate depiction, but if you asked most people who know me they wouldn’t rank me that low. I am a quiet, thoughtful person and I prefer small groups to large crowds. I am perfectly happy spending quiet time on my own. I actually work very hard at being more outgoing and forcing myself to talk to people in social situations where I would feel more comfortable melding into the background.
