Accounting opens numerous doors for careers in the business world; so there is consistently room for opportunities. For example, after I get my accounting degree, I plan on getting my certified public accountant (CPA) license. This is a test that will qualify me to practice public accounting. Acquiring a CPA license will pay dramatically higher, whereas regular accountants (on average) make 25% less than CPA’s. Being an accountant will without a doubt be a well-suited career for me, as it is supported by evidence through my detail-oriented personality and my aptitude to succeed in this field.

One of my defining abilities that makes me apt to perform this job well is my detail-orientation. I have always successfully noticed any discrepancies within a project, a test, or everyday life, no matter how small. For example, in my accounting class, it is crucial to always get every number exactly right, to perform all the equations exactly right, and to transfer the number to the right spot and with the correct number. Time and time again, I am correctly doing this without making any mistakes. My aptitude can also be shown through my ability to lead, “As a leader, you’re often ahead of your time. As an employee, you try to surpass the competence level of peers, even managers. Incisive and curious, you’re driven to deeply understand how things work” (Dranitsaris). So, with all my qualities in mind, it is evident that I will do well in the accounting field. I have the drive to perform high quality work consistently. This is due to the extreme difficulty of going through the process of obtaining a CPA license. There are several variations of sources that are in agreement on the difficulty of the CPA exam “Through both word of mouth testimonials and scouring the depths of the Internet, the masses agree, the final exam to become a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is the toughest final exam one can face. In fact, slightly less than 40% of those that take the test actually pass it the first time” (Talentadmin). This can be the most daunting aspect of becoming a CPA and it will definitely be a big hurdle to get over for anyone who attempts it.
