Change, influencing, motivating, inspiring and coaching. “Leadership is not defined, but is characterized as a mechanism for accomplishing goals” (Pawar and Eastman, 1997). The contextual dimensions and culture are very important for the study of leadership / managerial styles.

It is more of a mindset than any leadership style. It is also pertinent to mention that no single style of leadership is the ultimate ideal because there are various theories related to leadership which suggests that it depends upon the situation that which leadership style or combination of different leadership styles will be beneficial in any context for the organization. Leaders usually adopt hybrid nature of leadership style for motivating, influencing and inspiring their followers for the attainment of common objectives.
Paternalistic Leaders are Benevolent Leaders and liked by their followers. Paternalistic leadership is the branch of Moral Leadership

Rao (1981) studied leadership styled from three approaches viz., Benevolent, Critical and Developmental. Benevolent leader protects followers, continuously tells them what they should and should not do. The benevolent leader is generally liked by the followers. However, there are other styles of leadership which are pertinent and applied in case of need and are present in present study for exploring the most dominant leadership style.

Hypothesis 6 (H6): Paternalistic leadership (PL) will be positively associated with other leadership style in the corporate sector of Pakistan.

The path-goal theory (PGT) is relevant to this study as the basic objective of finding out the most dominant / prevailing style of leadership actually knows the traits and means used by leaders in order to achieve desired outcomes.
