Although they do not diagnose disorders, they are a vital piece in child development because they are the people who help the children understand and surpass the limitations a certain disorder gives to them. Personal Interest: The main reason why I am interested in this career is that I work in a dentistry for kids and I see plenty of kids who may need help, but don’t receive it. I want to help kids who are affected by a disorder to succeed in life and not have many limitations. Knowledge & Skills: The skills required for this career are good observation skills, communication skills, and most importantly patience. Someone who is trying to be a child development specialist will benefit from knowing how the child develops from toddlers to teenagers. Career Preparation: A course that I believe is needed to make a person more eligible for this career is Human Growth and Development (EDPC 5317). I believe being able to understand how children grow up is vital because you can’t help a child if you do not have any sort of understanding regarding the changes they experience while growing. If you have knowledge of this topic you can now help them surpass the limitations of any disorder or stress they are
When an offender is sentenced to imprisonment, post sentencing considerations must be made based on an evaluation of the individual and this will determine the manner in which the prison sentence is served. Post sentencing considerations include security classifications, parole and continued detention orders. These offer different levels of incapacity, accessibility of rehabilitation programs and incentives for good behaviour, and are implicated in order to achieve justice through upholding the rights of the victim, the offender and the wider community.
In today’s pop culture, media of all forms portrayals of correctional officers are almost always negative. Correctional officers are portrayed as bad, “meat head” type men. They are depicted as authoritarian, insensitive and without any redeeming qualities. This image of correctional officers is one in which many people believe and think of when they view prison life. These images can be found in films like “Shawshank Redemption”, where guards brutally beat, sometimes to death, the inmates they are responsible for. It is portrayed that the guards do not care about the inmates but instead hate them to the point that most believe they are always harsh and use excessive force. One harsh officer claimed he “wouldn’t piss on them [inmates]
One of my visions as a psychology practitioner scholar is becoming a clinical counselor. My purpose in psychology is to help people understand their life in a clear distinct way. I specifically want to target children and, help them grow and be more than they have the potential to be. I want to focus on the child development of children based on their environment. I want to be able understand children react the way they do in certain situations. Children have a way of not being able to express themselves fully so being able to help them understand their emotions.
I have always been interested in working with children. Becoming a teacher has always been a potential career path for me; however, I recently discovered the position of a child life specialist which has further broadened my interest for a future career. Although they are not educators in school, they are extremely important since they are the educators for children and their families to help overcome difficult and/or challenging life events. As a child life specialist I will be teaching children and families in hospitals how to cope with their diagnoses, how a surgery day will go, how certain lifestyles will have to change, and much more.

I am applying to the Master of Arts program in Criminal Justice at Lewis University, because I want to further my education in this field of study. The Criminal Justice field is changing day by day. I became quickly became fascinated with a growing interest in Criminal justice. When I transfer to Lewis University my Knowledge of the field grew, and so did my curiosity about how much I can do with this degree.
Since my sophomore year at Tennessee State University, becoming a Correctional Treatment Specialist has been my main focus. In order for a person to become a Correctional Treatment Specialist they would need to first obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and would also need further training. Afterwards they will have the necessary skills and experience to become a Correctional Treatment Specialist that can lead to a very rewarding career. “Correctional Treatment Specialists advise probationers and develop rehabilitation plans for them to follow when they are no longer in prison or on parole” (Correctional Treatment Specialist/BLS). They have to advise these plans to ensure that the client is doing what is necessary to keep them on track following
The career field I picked was Child Psychology. Child psychology is the study of how children act and behave. In general, a childhood psychologist might work with children and their primary caregivers in order to research, assess, and possibly treat developmental issues. Depending on his preferred area of study, a child psychologist will often work with all sorts of children. Not every child that a child psychologist works with is considered to be abnormal. A child psychologist might work with so-called "normal" children for several reasons.

What is a correction officer? And what kind of responsibilities do they carry each day they go behind the walls of corrections. I can only imagine the thoughts of some who took on the responsibilities of governing over prisoners who come from different backgrounds; and end up in prison. The ability to lead, instruct and supervise inmates as well as having a sympathetic attitude, but not only that, officers with the ability to act and make decisions quickly, while under stress, especially in emergency situations. The correction officers are not the only people who have responsibilities in corrections; there are those who educate, those who tend to the medical services of the inmates, and those who manage daily routine of the facility and
The United States of America contains the third largest population in the world, as well as the world’s largest prison population (Aliprandini and Finley). In order for the large criminal justice system to be successful, it must have a strong parole system. But the U.S. parole system is known to have a multitude of problems within it. Many of these problems can be solved by focusing on the relationships between the parole officers and the parolees (a person on parole). By participating in systems to better the work ethic of parole officers. Following through to fixing these affairs may seem unrealistic, however the outcome would be beneficial to society.
