Psychology My occupation is Psychology, I’d like to become a Psychologist because I like helping people and I would also like to understand why we as humans do certain things. A Psychologist has specific responsibilities and tasks to preform, they need to get information about the job, establish and maintain relationships, and make problem solving decisions. They would also need to Coach others, assist and care for others and also provide advice and consultation to others (Common Tasks). In this occupation there are three different types of Psychologists. Research Psychologists study people and behavior.
One of the strategies for treating rehabilitation is treating the child with respect. “Children with behavioral and emotional disorders require intensive behavior therapy tools to help them deal with triggers on a daily basis, and outside pressures. Another strategy is applied behavior analysis.” (Kids Mental Health, 2009). This technique will allow the PSR to analyze the behaviors of the child and teach them a better way to respond to a situation in a much more positive manor. This technique rewards the child for positive behavior, and will punish the child for any negative behavior.
I Would Like to Work as a School Psychologist I am interested in being a school psychologist for a variety of reasons. First, I believe that my background in working with children and families, and my B.A. in psychology are essential combinations that will be helpful in my pursuit of the degree. Second, I would like to work with children in a variety of educational situations, such as those in need of special education classes and those in talented and gifted programs. Third, I believe it is essential to work directly with the entire family system, not just the child.
With this new found information, I would hope that I could provide the attention and resources needed to make a child and their parents feel comfortable. A few things that stuck in my mind about these articles were: one on one contact with both the child and parents, giving the child some self management skills as well as responsibilities, in order to help them deal with their emotions, also avoiding use of confrontation, or aggressive behavior to obtain results from any child. From these readings I hope that I will be a more compassionate and attentive teacher.
I am now able to understand the reasoning behind this, and it is that he is at what Piaget would call “stage II, proportional though”. Even if I do not become a child psychologist I will be able to impress people by my intelligence on the subject. If I had to make recommendations for further work I would suggest that child psychologists pay more attention to the experiences a child has gone through, Such as how the parents acted towards them. Did the child have “real” parents who were able care for them or were they raised in an orphanage or foster home? This will help in understanding why children act and turnout the way they do.
The psychologist assesses the childhood or personal history, current life experiences, work or school history and family background. Psychological assessments are also administered through observations of the individual subject. If that individual is a child, the psychologists will assess the behavior in school settings, neighborhood and at home. The psychologist will also establish whether the teacher treats every child equally and the reactions of other children towards the child. The findings will provide a better picture of the functioning of the child hence the ease of the psychologist in formulating treatment proposals (Schultheiss et al.,
Educational Growth Professional counseling services could offer good assistance for children with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Psychologists well aware of ASD have shown much interest in depending on counseling tools that focus on education. This approach aims to improve educational growth in autistic children such that they better communicate with their peers and perform well on classroom tasks. For instance, apart from CBT or talk therapy, the counselor could administer Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This refers to the guidelines and principles basing on which the autistic children provide education with a special emphasis on behaviorism.
