Almost 9 years later, I reflect back on my grade school adventures at Incarnate Word Academy and wonder what grand things my future in high school may hold. I look back fondly on all the years and lessons I have learned. Out of all the years, all the homework, projects, reports, field trips and friendships, my kindergarten teacher taught me a very valuable lesson. This is the message that I feel that Our Lady of the Elms will assist me to foster in high school and eventually into my adult life. The lesson I learned in kindergarten was something that I remember my teacher whispering everyday… “small miracles”. This is where I learned that “great things” do not necessarily mean “big things.” We can accomplish “great things” in Jesus’ name by appreciating and spreading the small miracles that occur all around us on a daily basis. …show more content…

I see my love of dance continuing. Although a tiny percentage of young dancers will move on to a professional dance career, it is the “small things” that happen in a dance studio, that are some of the “great things” that I hope to spread to others. I would love to be part of the dance program revitalization at Our Lady of the Elms. Dance is not just about an individual. It teaches one that by contributing the same effort as everyone else remarkable things can be done. Through dance I have gained a sense of balance in life by managing commitments to both dance and academics. I have the ablity to participate in a physical activity that enhances the understanding and value of a healthy lifestyle. More than anything, dance has taught me a sense of confidence.
