The hanging gardens of Babylon is one of the seven ancient wonders of the world.
Even the existence of the gardens is controversial. And if they were for real, there’s another controversy regarding who built it- Nebuchadnezzar or Sennacherib? In Babylon or Nineveh(‘New Babylon’)?
But if it actually existed, one of the things needs to be cleared that the garden didn’t actually hang suspended by ropes of anything of that sort, as the name suggests. A wide variety of flora was grown on a monument made of bricks, on different tiers, in the terraces and the balconies. The structure looked like a mountain made of bricks with a lot of trees and shrubs growing on it. Built in the 6th century, it was not an easy task to sustain gardens on a multi-tier brick structure.
