My journey begins with a hope to acquire an advanced Nursing career. With so many potential opportunities in Nursing I want to strive for the best career in creating a career legacy map that will take care of me, thus allowing me to provide the best to patients and coworkers.
I found this article interesting because as I grow more mentally and physically it is very important to find meaningful work that would allow me to be remembered. Growing up I was always admired for and dedicated to helping others. My father reminded me that I was a leader everyday in our home and sparked my first hope in my heart to succeed. I currently have a job that gives me time to enjoy and be with my children as they grow outside of school. I still have my hopes and dreams of striving for better career, not only for myself now but also for my family. After twenty years, I committed myself to attend Walden College to achieve a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. In returning back to school at an older age I am pressured by anxiety but motivated by excitement. Right now I have more confidence and focus than ever before to attain my academic success as stated in the article titled creating a career legacy map to help assure meaningful work in nursing, “When nurses declare a professional legacy, they are likely to maintain a focus on achieving their legacy and to experience meaning in the process” (Keller 2015). By obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, I would be granted with more opportunities to excel in the Nursing field. This also would further my education in Nursing and give me a higher possibility to become a teacher related to health. My goal in Nursing is to someday work at the Coast Guard Academy and teach/administer health. I believe this would give me a steady and rewarding career.
