Nothing But a Man is a love film that addressed a lot of issues that were happening in the United States in 1960. It is a film about two couples who are facing discrimination. Nothing but a Man was released in 1964. The director name is Michael Roemer. Michael Roemer was a white German immigrant who didn’t like the racial injustice that was happening in America. There were some questions about why did a white man decide to make a film about African-Americans struggles in the 1960’s. This film has been cited as one of the best films about African Americans. Duff had a four year old son and was a railroad worker. In the movie he hasn’t seen his son is years until one day he decided to stop by to see him. His son lived with a nanny who informed Duff that the mother moved away. Duff met a young lady, Josie who changed his life; most would say. Josie was a teacher and a preacher’s wife. Josie parents wasn’t very fond of her going out with Duff because he wasn’t who they expected her to be with. Duff and Josie relationship wasn’t perfect because of Duff own problems he had with his family. Even though Josie did not like his lifestyle at all; when he asked her to marry him she said yes. Duff met up with his father and realized that his father still doesn’t want to be a father to him which makes Duff think about his relationship with his own son. Duff gets fired from his job and had to work for $2.50 picking cotton. It was not until he couldn’t continue working for $2.50 so he decided to work at a garage. He eventually gets fired because of his attitude with a customer. In the film Duff has had emotional rollercoasters here and there. He then eventually takes out his anger on his wife Josie and pushes her, while she was pregnant with her baby, and storms off to go see his father.
When he goes to his father he finds him very intoxicated so he and Lee goes to rush him to the hospital. And as they are taking him to the hospital, Duff’s father dies …show more content…

The leaders of this movement were Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Malcom X. The purpose of the Civil Rights Movement was to end all of the segregation and discrimination against African-Americans. Rosa Parks, who was a very important woman in history refused to give up her seat when a bus driver told her to get up for a white person; she then got arrested and was put in jail. She started a movement. The Montgomery Bus Boycott lasted for more than a year all because of what Rosa Parks did. She stood up for her rights and inspired people everywhere.
