The school year has just about concluded. I have wrote a couple of pieces this year. Some of the grades are at the high eighties and some are at the low seventies. Sometimes, what I should write just comes to my head, but other times I need to take a lot of time to complete the task. Some of my best essays, were the success essay and the mid-year portfolio. Some of my terrible essays were, To Kill a Mockingbird and Characteristics of Brother, First, I will explain my weaknesses when it comes to writing essays, then my strengths, and my growth as a writer this year.
Weaknesses make my writing confusing or unclear. One of my weaknesses is the ideas and content. When I look at my rubric, I realized most of the time my ideas and content is the lowest out of all the other ones. In my “Success” essay, most of the other assessments criteria were in the five column. I only got two fours on this essay, what I mess up on is the ideas and content and word choice. Word choice is also another one of my weakness. When I'm writing I don't really focus on imagery, I focus on what I need to do. As I look through all of my writing pieces, I see that I don't have a lot of strong vocabulary. When I write I noticed that I used basic words and not complex vocabulary.

One of my strengths is the organization. When I write, all of the details are in the correct order, so it does not seem like I am going back and forth to my main idea. When I writing, I only have a paragraph based off of the main idea, and I make sure that all of the details are in chronological order. In my “Compassion” essay, the body paragraphs had details that lead up to the last point in the paragraph. Another one of my strengths In my “Brother’s Characteristics” essay, my supporting details were really strong; they helped prove what I am trying to

Has evil always been around, or did man create it? One could trace evil all the way back to Adam and Eve; however, evil came to them, but it was not in them. When did evil become part of a person? No one knows, but evil has been around for a long time and unfortunately is discovered by everyone. In many great classics in literature evil is at the heart or the theme of the novel, including Harper Lee’s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. This classic book demonstrates the growing up of two children in the South and illustrates the theme of evil by showing how they discover, how they deal, and how they reconcile themselves to the evils they experience.
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird characterizes Maycomb’s flaws because it is a town where others judge and misunderstand one another leaving townspeople scared to speak up for themselves. This conveys to readers that society should understand the perspective of another person so one can express their thoughts and opinions freely. (Mention prejudice for judgement)
To Kill A Mockingbird - Knowledge and Courage & nbsp; & nbsp; To Kill a Mockingbird is not a story about birds, or animal abuse. This novel is a book of knowledge and courage which both teaches and fixes people's view of life. Even though the title is "To Kill a Mockingbird," it is suitable to entitle it as to kill our stubborn misconceptions. This novel is full of courage, shown by Harper Lee. During her lifetime, there was a huge concept of racism going on in America.
Power is the important thing that everybody wants. Power is the ability to control one’s own life or the life of other. The book “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is the story about power. In the story Mayella Ewell accuses Tom Robinson of raping her. Mayella wins the case against Tom showing how much power she has. But is my Mayella truly powerful? When it comes to class and gender she is powerless but when it comes to race she is powerful. Her race makes her truly powerful.
As a writer, my greatest strength is to layout the essay as introduction, body and conclusion and especially thesis. In EAP, I was taught carefully in this regard, the construction of introduction, a thesis is the main factor because it is the main point of the essay. However, arranging ideas and put them into sentences are not my strong. For example, in the essay, there were a lot of ideas and arguments that I collected and I put them randomly in paragraph...
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
One strength I had was the organization of the essay. My sentences I wrote were not all over the place each paragraph talks about one topic. One weakness I had with writing this essay was my writing style. I noticed that in this essay my writing style was a bit choppy. I should have read my essay out loud to see if it had a good flow between my ideas.
Although there are multiple essays that I could consider to be my most satisfying essay, the one that I am most proud of is synthesis essay that was assigned as summer homework. This assignment was one of the highest grades that I have ever received in English class this year. I also consider this to be my most satisfying essay because I had never written a synthesis essay before the assignment, and I was able to get a high grade on the essay. The fact that I received such a good grade on an essay that I was unfamiliar with, made me really proud of myself. Overall I feel very satisfied with my writing skills, specifically the
My first writing weakness was deciding what to write about. I had to read the essay topic over and over again to understand what it was asking for. I would worry that I wouldn’t understand the topic correctly. While writing the essay I was scared to get out of topic and write about something else I wasn’t supposed to write about. Another thing that would happen to me was that suddenly my mind would go blank and wouldn’t be able to think about what else I could write about. The essay I liked writing the most this semester was the second essay. I enjoyed making my own planet and how my alien had a quest with all the commercials I saw on the TV. The hardest essay I wrote this semester was the fourth and last essay. I got confused when I was writing the body paragraphs. This writing weakness impacted my life by showing me that I have trouble thinking about how I could write my essays. I think I should start reading books and maybe I could get a few ideas out of those books.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
In the past, I used to start writing an essay without writing an outline. I even did not brainstorm before I began to write. As a result, my essays were undoubtedly messy and disorganized. For instance, after I finished writing my Paper 2, I asked my professor for suggestions. He advised me to rearrange the order of paragraphs since my essay was disorganized and disordered. At that moment, I finally realized that if I did not plan out what I was going to write, my essay would be less likely to be logical because outline is like a base and foundation of an article. Hence, I started writing an outline from then on. For example, I nowadays would like to write my thesis statement down first. After that, I will briefly write down what I will talk about in body paragraphs. After using pre-writing skills and techniques, I notice that my essays are much more organized; and thus, my essays are no...
I never had any interest in writing before entering high school, I never enjoyed writing essays. I believe the reason was I did not find it necessary to write a 5-page essay on 'To Kill a Mockingbird '. In the real world we will write a page or two for job opportunities and some for the job itself, but hardly ever will you need to write an essay on some book or event in time;
Sadly, my next school year was my worst ever. I had poor grades in all of my subjects and I did poorly in many subjects, but there was one class I didn’t mind struggling in it because it peaked my interest. English my junior year was my favorite class even if I did not do as well as I wished. I read books that interested me and I wrote essays on things I enjoyed writing about. While writing has never been a strong subject for me, I have always loved writing. I enjoy writing about things that interest me and that I have a passion for. Intro to composition has changed the way I think about writing, it allowed me to write about what I wanted while guiding me to write more intellectual and specific through constant revisions and one on one conferences with my
