Although my motives and passion for becoming a nurse has been my dream, I have put this dream into a real life action plan. I am very passionate about being a nurse and the work that comes along with it. After going through Hodgkin Lymphoma I decided that nursing is the career that defined my strong points and offered challenges that I will love to accomplish. Realizing I wanted to be an oncology nurse, identifying courses that I will need to take and when classes start, and my determined plans for the future.
At 13 years old I was diagnosed with cancer for a year. With all the overnight hospital stays was sometimes fun but got dull at times, because I wanted to see friends. Missing out on all the fun things that was going on at school, especially the field trips. Although being in the hospital did stop me from smiling I had a lot of support and comfort. All the family that visit and most importantly my favorite nurse Brittney. Brittney was one of my best night shift nurses. She was the best because she would sit with me when my mother and father wasn’t there because they had to work. While giving me my medications she would talk to me so that I wouldn’t feel the antitoxin through my veins. …show more content…

Making a decision on being in pediatric care of a children’s hospital is what I want to accomplish. I would like to work around younger cancer patients because I want to be the one that makes them overjoyed as I was by my nurses. Having a nephew which I took care of when my sister had to work gives me working experiences with kids, from the nights where he couldn’t go to sleep without his mom so I give him a teddy bear. To him have colds and I was the one giving him medicine. In addition to the long stays I also got to connect with some of the kids that was in there with me.
