Mothers’ Know Best

“You’re going to end up being a teacher when you’re older,” said my mom while I was in middle school. I never believed that I would ever have the desire to want to teach children about certain subjects. In middle school, the teachers were just inconsiderate of everything that we were suppose to do not only in the classroom, but at home too and I never wanted to be someone that some people hate. Once I got to my junior year of high school I finally decided that maybe my mother is right, I think I would really love my job as a teacher, but the reasons I decided this path was a lot deeper than just my mother telling me she thought I’d make a good teacher. Once I took chemistry and the ACT test, I knew I wasn’t necessarily cut out for being any type of doctor, so I decided to consider teaching. There was one teacher that really inspired me to be overall a good person and now that I look back on her teaching styles, I want my future classroom to be just like hers. I know that if I can provide my future students with sufficient information and lesson plans, then they will not have a chance to be unsuccessful. I want what is best for the future of this country and I truly believe that teachers play a role in the future generations. I want to help the children be as successful as they can. I want to make sure that the children understand all the basic ideas in math because this is the beginning where it all piles up.
