My English Experience: My Experience With English

My experience with English has been interesting. I’ve spoken Spanish for the past 10 years as my primary language, due to the fact I was living in Mexico. I was taught how to speak English rather than how to read and write in a more complex way. I was a bit nervous starting this class because I thought I would be lacking in some way on successfully expressing myself, especially in the language I hadn’t really used for a while. Coming into this class made me realized how much more I need to learn, but also that I haven’t “forgotten” how to speak English.

From my previous English classes, which again were classes on how to learn to speak English, they were quite easy for me since I already knew how to speak the language. When writing, I tend to put more than needed. I’m still working on how to edit and give a more concrete summary. And I find it difficult to pinpoint the thesis statement of a reading, which I’m still working on.

I found this class interesting, being it wasn’t just about reading about boring topics. I also found ways to draw myself in assignments when I could to help me complete them. I am a bit sad that there weren’t many classes were we could share our opinions more. But, in the end the experience was good and I learned a lot.

I hope that I can better my English and be able to write with more confidence, but in the end I’m happy where I found myself in the class. I understand that I can’t expect myself to learn everything in a short amount of time, more so because most of my studies were in another language. I did better than I expected I would in this class and I’m very proud myself. I expect English to be an important part of my life, even though I’m planning to study my major in another
