College Life: My English Writing Experience College English Classes are a stepping stone for all students who want to peruse a college degree, and they are very effective for students who will be having to take higher English Courses. When I first started college, I took the English 101 Course, and then, I took the English 102 Course. After attending both of these classes, they helped me grow as a writer, and prepared me for the future English Courses that I will be taking. When I first began the English Writing Program, I was a little concerned with having to write my first paper, but the nervousness quickly dissipated when I knew that my professor would be helping us with our writing. In high school, I was only allowed to write in third person, and I never got to experience writing about my personal experiences. This was a challenge for me because this was something I never have done before, but I was able to overcome this obstacle. Luckily, the English 101/102 textbook helped me by having different exercises available to help me choose topics, and it gave me numerous examples on how the paper should look like when it is completed. This was something I really had to work on, but this obstacle helped me become a better writer. Another challenge I faced was comma errors in my paper. Comma placement in a paper is not my strong suit, but my professor showed me some different tricks and reminders to help me with this issue. A amjor change I had to make was my writing approach. For example, when I wrote my first paper, the steps to writing a paper was changed entirely. I was accustomed to having to write an outline and rough draft before I would write my final draft. Now, I was having to write a sketch and rough draft before I could write my final draft. The sketch was the first attempt to writing the paper, and it gave me a chance to put some ideas on paper, but it was a challenge for me because I like to write me paper entirely and put all my thoughts on paper all at one time. Now, I was having to write a mini paper and having to add to it later on. Therefore, I had to change my writing process to fit this new writing format. Although I feel confident about writing in first person and comma placement, I still feel like those are some areas I need to improve in. English has always been one of my strongest subjects, but I feel like there is always still room for improvement. Even though I struggle with these things, I still feel confident about my writing. Small errors like comma errors are still an issue, but I was able to cut these errors in half by the time I completed the First Year Writing Program. Occasionally, I struggle with not using enough sophisticated vocabulary, but it is not a major
