Career Packet I and II
My whole life I have been around sports weather I was playing them, watching them, or coaching the youth to help develop the future of sports in my town. Sports have always been and always will be a huge part of my life because for as long as I can remember I have loved them. A career in sports is what I have always dreamed of and what I am currently pursuing in my time at Ohio University. My life around sports has taught me many valuable things like how to be a part of a team, how to work hard, respect for the game, and the most important skill I took from them was the leadership trait. Being around this sport and learning what I have from it leadership is by far the most important thing I have learned. My leadership skill began to develop in my high school years. As a freshman and a sophomore I was fortunate enough to play varsity football with some great leaders that I learned a lot from. In those two years I learned what it took to lead a team. My junior year I was voted one of the four team captains, I was the only junior to be a captain. I believe this was a result of the leadership qualities I showed during summer workouts and also leading by example while in the weight room or on the field. My senior I was voted speaking captain by my teammates, which meant I was the soul leader of the team. I believe my teammates voted for me to get this position because they thought I could lead the team where it needed to go and that year we had an 8-2 record and made a playoff appearance. My second strength is my work ethic. Growing up I was always taught to give everything I had into something I was doing. Sports were a very big part in developing my work ethic. The reason sports was the key in developing my work ethic was because I loved sports so much and was willing to give up a lot to become what I was in sports and I would not change anything. Will In high school sports I often found myself giving up time with friends to get better at the sport I was playing at that time. My work ethic also carried over to my school work. I began to apply myself in school like I would preparing for a sport. I truly believe the development of my work ethic is one of the most important things that has ever happened to me. My third strength is would be being part of a team. Sports was also had a big impact of the development of this skill.
