This environment is one in which a child can grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. As an educator it is not only my job, but it is my hope to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas and to have them become life-long learners. The most important thing I can do is to provide an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, invites the sharing of ideas, and shows respect for self and others. To create this type of environment I must be a guide and a model. A child's natural curiosity can be a powerful tool used to direct his/her learning.
As an educator, my main is to help children to become pedagogically and academically successful. In order to be useful in the society in which they live they need to get a well-balanced education. Besides, we need to offer them a safe and fun environment as they learn. It is equally important, that both teachers and parents should play a decisive role in to strengthen children’s emotionally, intellectually, and socially. The theory I agree with and the one I would like to base the teaching process is the theory of Anton Seminovich Makarenko.
Mindful and Reflective Practice The information presented during this course has increase my knowledge and experience about my role as an early childhood educator. The resources presented helped me to learn ways to promote healthy development and well-being of all children and how to be an advocate for them. I believe this class enriched my knowledge about infant-toddler care and education to the point that I would most like to express to others its importance. One thing that I would like to share is that infant–toddler care and education is crucial for physical and cognitive development. The caregiver/parent interaction is necessary for the children to keep alive the desire for communication and learning.
Children are our inspiration. They are the reason that educators today need to be more than sufficient in teaching, but remarkable at teaching. Children are little sponges that absorb knowledge quickly and abundantly and with guidance, can achieve great goals in their academic life. Children are the future. As teachers, we need to educate ourselves as much as possible so that we can better educate the future generations.
As well as encouraging children to be in control of their own interests and learning (Every child matters, 2004). Allen and Whalley (2010) adopt Whalley, Allen and Wilson’s (2008) notion that the role of the practitioner is extremely significant and address the idea that effective pedagogy is about improving outcomes for children’s learning. Therefore in order to provide an effective provision for children to learn and grow in practitioners must be able to maintain positive interactions with the children. Allen and Whalley (2009) adopt Curtis and O’Hagan’s (2009, p. 156) concept that theorists such as Bruner and Vygotsky have influenced pedagogy by placing “emphasis upon the importance of the adult in facilitating children’s learning”. This promotes children’s learning.
My educational philosophy about students comes from the perspective that each child is unique and childhood is a valuable stage of development. I believe that all children can learn and it is my job to help them to grow to their fullest potential. I believe that when working with children it is important to have full knowledge of child growth and development. I also believe that children are understood and supported in their development within the context of family, culture and society. NAEYC standards 7.A states that teachers “Know and understand the program families.” For this reason I believe in getting to know each child and their family.
Thus, the early childhood teacher have some key influencing factors to consider when supporting young children in developing a positive self-image. Personality is one of the major factor that an early childhood teacher must consider before supporting children. A firm knowledge of the child’s personality will help to devise proper experience plans for the respective child, leading to a positive self-image and boosted self confidence in the child. It is the responsibility of the educator to promote the curiosity and open-mindedness in children. The educator should also make all possible attempts to encourage children to be flexible and self-reflective in nature.
In wanting to change the lives of the next generation it is important to be competent, which is a pattern of effective adaptation to the children’s environment, being friendly, purposeful, achievement oriented, all while being involved in helping change the lives of children for the better. In this essay I will outline the student’s ability to learn, the teachers expectations, student’s social ecology theory, cultural diversity instruction, and curriculum for all learners. Student’s Ability to Learn It is an educator’s job to teach students the basics of how we learn and why we learn to build success in children. Every teacher has their own way in how they teach the children in their classes. Most teachers will have new student year after year, unless they get held back.
Every child needs education to increase knowledge. Education is an essential life experience for children, and I think it differs depending on whom it was taught by and how it was taught. Teaching is an important profession that provides children with opportunities to learn new things and gain knowledge for their future. My focus and vision for education are similar to the educational philosophy called progressivism. Progressivism is a student-centered philosophy.
My motivation for teaching is giving back to the students the opportunity, motivation and understanding that has been provided to me throughout my own education. I want to help people to have better lives, to help the world to be a better place and I like children. My personal beliefs on education are that every student who comes to school could succeed in life and students has something to teach me. I am a role model to my students and I demonstrate respect, honesty, empathy, responsibility, promptness, and desire for learning. I can nurture a desire for learning in students, I feel that education should be relevant and interesting.
