Throughout the duration of my lifetime, I have met an abundance of influential people. However, nobody had impacted my life like Ms. Mayorga, my former English teacher, and the best mentor I had.
I met Ms.Mayorga when I was in 7th grade. At first glance, her appearance intimidated me. She seemed to be strict and authoritative. However, throughout the year, I realized I was wrong. She held my hand and brought me into the sun with her love of the English Language. The first attractive quality she had was her ability to engage us in reading, so this made understanding the lessons easy. She often connected her lessons by giving real life scenarios, and sharing many personal stories to the classroom, so her students can take them as learning experiences.

Also, she used to make the classroom environment very welcoming by always smiling and being such a pleasant teacher. Furthermore, she encouraged me to use the vocabulary I learned in class and take it to another level. She influenced my academic goals by repeating everyday the same words “Do you want to clean windows and earn 10 dollar an hour or do you want to be a professional and earn a 100 dollars per hour?” “Do you want to anybody or someone that will make a difference?”. These very words inspired, influenced and encouraged me to do my very best and make her proud. Furthermore, she discovered that I had the potential to meet the common core standards and be outstanding. Everyday she used to give extra work so I could expand my knowledge and pass the ELA state test, despite the fact that I used to be an English Language Learner. As a result, my major goal was to pass the ELA state test , so I could be transfer to a monolingual class. Indeed, Ms. Mayorga helped to achieve my goal. One of the things that I like the most about Ms. Mayorga is that she always motivated me to do more and beyond and she always believed and me, when I didn’t believe in myself. The fact that as a hispanic
The lessons that are taught through experience are usually the ones that stick with children for a lifetime. In Toni Cade Bambara's “The Lesson”, Miss Moore, a prominent character in the story, teaches a lesson to underprivileged children growing up in Harlem. Bambara's work is described as “stories [that] portray women who struggle with issues and learn from them.” (Vertreace, Par. 48) Bambara uses Miss Moore and her characteristics to teach Sylvia and the other children about social inequality and the idea of pursuing personal aspirations regardless of social status. Miss Moore has many admirable characteristics; she's intelligent, patient and caring.
The essay by Maya Angelou, Mrs. Flowers, was how she helped find the voice of an extraordinary and the relationship between them. This essay shows the examples of how actually teachers, mentors, and coaches can take interest in someone. In the past, I had someone like Mrs. Flowers take interest in me. He was my business teacher Mr. Peterkin. He help me become more confident in areas where I was weak. If it wasn’t for teachers like Mrs. Flowers and Mr. Peterkin, Marguerite and I would probably we wouldn’t be where we are today.
... to the United States, which made her really proud. Her rough teaching method actually left a positive impact on my life because I build a good habit of learning and using English, and also I feel so fortunate that I can get all of these supervision, criticism, encourage, and care from her.
If it hadn’t been for her making me learn how to think and learn for myself, I wouldn’t be where I am today. There were many times during my high school days where I needed to be independent in my learning because there were teachers who didn’t teach the lesson properly. While other student were struggling with those teachers I was able to overcome that trial and succeed in those classes. I’ve been told all my life that college is way more independent when it comes to learning than any other time I your life. I believe because I learned at such a young age how to teach myself, I have a greater chance at succeeding than other who have not had the same
She was the most caring and dedicated teacher I ever had and she respected every student as an individual. On the other hand, she had a very negative influence on my life. She is the person who told me there was no Santa Clause, which ruined Christmas for me for a very long time. Another person who has had a great influence on my life is Mr. Robinson. He was my first band teacher. He is the person who convinced me to join band, which
Thank you Darshini for walking up a big hill every day just to learn a huge mountain of English. Thank you Jessica for always working incredibly hard,” she recited. One after one, she thanked all of us for being special and making an amazing class. I was so lucky to have Ms. Folendorf as my teacher; she taught me so much, and she was so inspirational, I thought to myself. When her speech ended it was time to officially culminate.
Nonetheless during this whole stressful ordeal, she didn’t let me stay in this mindset. She helped develop a plan with all the teachers who classes I fail to come up with a plan to graduate on time. So, going into my sophomore year that very first day
She showed me how to check student’s identification cards and make sure they are valid for the school’s new semester. She also showed me how to let patrons check out books and how to check out reserved books and videos to students. I worked with Annette on Monday’s and she usually taught me something relating to the library computer servers, but other times she would talk with me about school and how I was feeling. One day I came in slightly upset about the stressors of school and she reassured me that I would get through the struggles.
But I also think about how she challenged me. Most of all, I remember how she influenced me. To begin with, Mrs. Ladd gave us homework every night. Even if there was a holiday or a weekend, homework was assigned and due the following school day. She would collect it and grade it.
She could explain anything to me and I would understand straight away. She helped a lot for my education and always was there to help. My parents knew that she could teach me and show how hard it is these days and how hard I should work. That is why they always made sure I saw her enough but it never was for me.
I never had a teacher that I clicked with. Changing from school to school was hard and anytime I would get close to someone, I would end up changing schools. I never knew what it meant to have a teacher care about a student so much. That all changed when I moved to Delafield, Wisconsin in 2007. I started a new school in the fourth quarter and everything felt the same. All of a sudden, when seventh grade came around, I felt like a whole new person. This is the year that I met the teacher who became a part of my life. Mrs. Wroblewski has positively inspired me to follow my dreams and be who I want to be. Mrs. Wroblewski is an inspiration to me and a role model because she defended me when I was bullied, gave me great opportunities, a great listener, and is always there for me not matter what.
“I wanted to become a teacher to be able to make a positive difference on the future of children. For me, it is fulfilling challenge, stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners. I have always been grateful to my mom (who is a retired teacher) for implanting values in me. I feel I should contribute what I have learned and experienced over the years. This way I will be paying back and at the same time can fulfill my desire of enhancing the education system.”
Being around her I was always nurtured and felt much love, I felt safe. My grandmother presence has affected me in a positive way. I feel as though the effects are great; my learning experience is one that sacrificed for anything. She continues to inspire me to become successful and finish college no matter what. My grandmother is a business lady and someday soon I will have a business of my own. I have learned so much from my grandmother; I can take these lessons and have a bright, rich and successful future because of them. I have received so much love from her and I thank her for that each and every day. It’s not a day that goes by that we don’t speak and every day she inspires me to do better and push harder in my studies. I really appreciate everything that she has taught me and I have nothing but the up-most respect for this lady…Selena
In fact, I cannot think of a day she was not smiling. I can describe her as a happy, passionate person who loved her job and everything she did. Her personality really shined through when she would greet us in the morning and especially throughout the whole day. I feel like Mrs. Alvarado truly impacted my life as a student and as an individual. She is the very reason why I want to be a teacher. In fact, I want to incorporate the same qualities into my work and inspire my students just as she did for me. Overall, I want to be that teacher who impacts her students and shapes them into becoming responsible and respectful individuals. I want to be that teacher that my students will remember
...ove the times when she said that I helped her understand a certain concept. Those moments are what I live for, and they are priceless to me. I hope that I can continue to provide that satisfaction of learning to my future students and experience the pride and joy that the students will feel when the material finally clicks. Becoming a teacher would be a dream come true for me, and I hope that I can have the opportunity to purse this dream during my lifetime. I hope that with hard work this dream can become a reality. In essence, I want to pursue this career more than anything because I really want to inspire and shape the future generation. I know that they have what it takes to make a difference in the world, but they need teachers who can point them in the right direction. Every teacher has that capability, and that is why I want to pursue this amazing profession.
