Why should I selected, Ever since joining the Corps I have heard of Mountain Cadet Leadership School(MCOLS) and have always wanted to go. I should be chosen because i am a hard worker. When I joined the Corps I was excited and wanted to give everything I had into the Corp and I still do this year, I also plan to. I know how things work around the Corps, I know that you have to be honest and have moral values. This Corps has instilled in me Integrity and to give my all at that I do. Douglas Jrotc has done so much for despite my speech ( which will indeed get better). In this High School there is only a few things I actually care about, Which are my academics, Sports, and Jrotc. The Corps has helped me find a better crowd and I now do better
“I brought you guys here for better”. These are the words my mother told me many times as a boy and again not long ago. My mother has always pushed me in my education, and I finally realized that my junior year of high school. My grades in everything were outstanding this year, but I was still missing out on something. I was still not very involved in school. One day an individual from the American Legion came to our school to talk to all the juniors. He told us about an event that happens every year and in every state. It was a prestigious event to be accepted to. Having no real involvement in anything, I did not think for a second that I would be accepted, but, regardless, I applied, and two months later I received a call from that same man who told me I had been accepted. I was a big reluctant and indecisive about going because, aside from the fun and games, there was government learning and marching involved. I decided to go, and will never regret that decision. The experience there changed my views in so many ways. I met so many new people, greatly strengthened my skills in leadership, and I realized I had the potential to not only dream about my goals, but to live them as well.
The topic of leadership has been explored and written about by thousands of authors who are considerably more qualified than I am to write about the subject. However, I’ve always maintained that developing, evolving and articulating one’s own leadership philosophy is an essential part of a professional’s growth. In order to better understand my leadership philosophy, you must first understand who I am. I spent 8 years active duty in the Marine Corps. Afterwards, I did a multitude of different civilian jobs while pursuing my Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University. I have been married for almost 20 years and have two awesome boys, ages 1 and 5. I think family is imperative in keeping Soldiers grounded and in a good state of mental health.
Meeting these heroes is what motivated me to apply. These brave warriors offered the ultimate sacrifice for their country. They became the best of the best. They became my role models and my idols. As I held my saber high above their heads, I realized what I wanted to do with my life; I want to be an aid to those in need while being the best I can be. I don’t want to be a hero. I decided to apply to the United States Military Academy. I decided to apply to stand side by side with some of the smartest, bravest, and toughest heroes America has to offer. I have learned how to accept supervision better. I am showing concern for others more than normal, and I have met great people who I can really consider as mentors for me later in life. These people have changed me and helped me see the brighter things in life. Coming to Job Corps is probably the best thing that I have ever done because I was not able to do anything back at home before I came here and now I am getting the education and training that I need to make my dreams come true. For me, the high school experience was not simply going to school, completing the schoolwork and repeating that day to day. For me, high school was about making tangible memories. JROTC has been a huge impact in my life believe it or not. It has taught me to be strong ,stand up for myself and take charge. Just last year I was a company commander., little me being the big boss. Many people might of not like that idea of me in charge but as hard as it was I am grateful I had that chance to experience when I did. I learned no one can pull you down but yourself. I myself got out of my shell. I can talk to people more openly and not be scared. I think I speak louder too. The biggest experience I can say JRTOC gave me would be jclc. I met some of the best people there. Even though I might not talk to them anymore I wish them nothing but the best. It is always sad to see friend leave but that’s part of life and in life the only thing you learn is to let them go and take care of yourself. They treated me like a family and cared for me as one too and that is something I will never forget. JROTC is more than just a class. It actually helps you in life. For me it did mentally physically and emotionally.

I joined the Army Cadets in August 2014 I am a Cadet at 1Platoon Strathaven Royal Scottish Borderers in Glasgow and Lanarkshire Battalion. I decided to join the Army Cadets because I was becoming bored at home and wanted to make new friends. I'm very energetic and knew that joining would be great in terms of keeping me active through activities at weekend / annual camps and at the detachment At the first thought of being a cadet I thought that it would be rubbish and boring and I would not like it but as my parents said “if you go and try it and don't like it then you don't need to go back”.
