Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout has been one of my greatest accomplishments of my life. Getting my Eagle Scout has given me three great benefits; the first one is many life skills, benefits while applying for a job, and people look up to me as an Eagle Scout. Getting this award has been a great honor and has taught me many of the life skills needed to be successful in today’s modern society.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. This award is looked very highly of in the Scouting program and also in modern society. To earn the rank I had to complete the other five ranks, Earn 21 merit badges, Plan, and give leadership to a service project. Take part in a Scoutmaster conference. Some famous and notable Eagle Scout are, Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, General Ford the 38th president, and Mick Rowe from Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel. I personally look up to all three of them, but I specifically look up to Mike Rowe, because of his promotion to the working class. But you don’t have to be famous to be looked up to. Many other scouts looked up to me for advice when doing their projects. I am greatly honored by this.
Even to this day I tried to exhibit many of the life skills I learned through the Eagle Scout process. I believe that completing this has led me on to my future career goals in conservation. Boy Scouts has given me a great interest in the outdoors, and also taught me the importance of environmental stewardship.
So completing the rank of Eagle Scout has been has been one of the greatest things I've accomplished because of its effect it has taught me many basic life skills that are important to be successful, it has given me the edge in the modern job market, it has also given me great people to look up to in the chance to be looked up to. “I brought you guys here for better”. These are the words my mother told me many times as a boy and again not long ago. My mother has always pushed me in my education, and I finally realized that my junior year of high school. My grades in everything were outstanding this year, but I was still missing out on something. I was still not very involved in school. One day an individual from the American Legion came to our school to talk to all the juniors. He told us about an event that happens every year and in every state. It was a prestigious event to be accepted to. Having no real involvement in anything, I did not think for a second that I would be accepted, but, regardless, I applied, and two months later I received a call from that same man who told me I had been accepted. I was a big reluctant and indecisive about going because, aside from the fun and games, there was government learning and marching involved. I decided to go, and will never regret that decision. The experience there changed my views in so many ways. I met so many new people, greatly strengthened my skills in leadership, and I realized I had the potential to not only dream about my goals, but to live them as well.
Congratulations on your Eagle Scout! It takes a supportive and involved family to achieve that rank. Cole and I park cars at LSU home games and have met a few people from other troops, but so far, you are the first person we have met from Troop 65. Some adult men that I respect are Eagles and give their Boy Scout experience high praise for many life lessons. Hopefully, scouting will "balance" out Cole's life experience of being raised by women and give him practical life skills.
Once you have completed these steps, you will be officially an eagle scout. It is a great honor and you should be very proud of your achievement. Many Eagle Scouts become astronauts, celebrities, and many other types of famous people. Make sure that you follow the scout law and oath every day and use your scout skills to help the community you are in. Thanks to this essay you should easily be able to get your Eagle Scout rank.
The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.
Being a Member of the National Honor Society will help me get into a college of my choice. No one in my family has attended college and my goal is to be the first one. NHS will have me be seen as a leader and a person who is serious about their future.
The most honorable experience that I have had is working on my Eagle Scout project. I learned how to become a better leader, tackle difficult situations and how to work with others. All of these skills helped me be a better person.
National Junior Honor Society as a nation premier organization started to recognize outstanding middle-level students. NJHS is a way to honor students who have demonstrated an extraordinary amount of excellence in the areas of the five pillars which are, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. This organization that was started in 1929 is a great opportunity for me to show my family and teachers how hard I work to get this far. I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary student who are being considered for this program. This organization the so many great things in society, and knowing that I could potentially be a part of it and play a part in futuring the impression that the organization has already made. Since elementary school I have been in Celina's Boy Scout Troop 69. Starting as a Tiger cub and after many years eventually becoming a Boy Scout. 10 years later it is my last year of being a Boy Scout and I will be aging out in April. From building fires, tying knots, and learning first aid, scouting has taught me life skills that I will never forget. The greatest lesson of all though has to be grasping the skills of being a leader. The character and roles of a leader are very important for everyone to understand. I have been given several opportunities to teach these skills to younger girls, including organizing the San Francisco Girl Scout Skills Camporee training, where we trained Girl Scouts of all ages for the annual Skills Camporee. For multiple years in a row, girls in my troop and I organized and designed the training activities for this event. Events like this have improved my leadership abilities and inspired me to continue learning as a Girl Scout. Of all of the amazing experiences that I have gotten from Girl Scouts, the most important to me has been the opportunities to meet hundreds of other inspired young women and help them enrich their own lives through Girl Scout programs. Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
The highest rank I received from my peers is Item 7 “Exhibited Strong Leadership Skills”. In my current job I am the leader of a large department. In order to be successful in my job I must communicate a strong vision, inspire others to succeed, and carryout the mission of the company that I work for.
Being able to clearly understand how my job contributes to the Air Force, the Joint Environment, and the DoD is extremely satisfying. I take my work seriously because I know that what I do can have a direct impact on the military’s ability to fight and win wars. The personal achievements that I have experienced during my 22 years in the Air Force are also very gratifying. The work I did as a Security Policeman stand out the most. It was here that I went from a boy to a man in just a few short months and fully understood what it meant to be a part of the military. From humble beginnings in a small town I made the decision to enlist and take on a task bigger than myself. I had no idea what I was getting into.
The Air Force has been a life shaping institution for me as it has been for many others. The demands and opportunities inherent to military service have given me the chance to grow and develop as an individual and team member. From the age of five, I wanted to be a fighter pilot. But as I grew up, my dream remained the same while my motivations changed greatly. Once I entered the Air Force, the experiences that I had serving were profound and life changing and my current assignment affords me the opportunity to use that experience in a joint environment to shape the way that the Army and the Air Force integrate. While the steps along the way have been many and varied, upon reflection I can see that the common thread throughout has been the ideal of service before self.
