Military Work Benefits

I have been a part of the United States Air Force for 16 years, and I can honestly say that the military has an amazing benefits program, which is the main reason (in my opinion) why so many stay in for as long as they can. Some of the benefits include: housing and food allowance, medical and dental care, free tuition, bonus incentive packages, paid time off oh and most important a guaranteed paycheck twice a month. One would think that the military life is such a perfect world because it has an awesome benefits package and working in the military should be great with no complaints at all, well I am here to tell you that the employee benefits in the workplace can positively and negatively impact work relationship. The benefits that we receive and the fact that some of us actually love our job brings a positive work relationship. I feel that the appreciation or lack thereof from our leadership team is the reason why work relationships can either become positive or negative. For an example, a person comes to work and supervisor walks in and tells them about a very important project, he/she tells their subordinate that they have five duty days to complete this project. Let’s just say if this continues, the employee work performance will begin to decrease, they may start to show up to work late, they will have lost all motivation all because they do not feel appreciated for their hard work. The workplace relationships will begin to fail, which will eventually affect the mission. Now if the individual was recognized whether privately or in front of his/her peers, this will have a positive impact on workplace relationships. The person will more likely become motivated to complete their tasks in a timely manner and set the example for their teammates to finish their work or take on those challenging
