Supervisor need communication skills, fairness, negotiation skills and resolution skills to mediate conflicts. Also supervisor should be an active listener, need to understand the problem, reason for conflict correctly. Then the mediator should be unbiased. Mediating supervisor should not be a part of the issue or problem. It will help to develop the trust between two parties or individual.

2. When might a supervisor benefit from using trained mediators, such as NCRC mediators, rather than mediating a conflict him- or herself? Why would the experts be important in these situations?

Suppose you are a supervisor of TSA screeners in an airport. You notice that a passenger is visibly upset about having her carry-on bag inspected. As you step near the table where the inspection is taking place, you hear her say, “You’re going to make me miss my flight.” Would you get involved in this situation? If so, how? I will help my employee to finish the job quickly. At the same time start polite conversation with her and apologize to the passenger. Depend on her response conveyance her we are doing inspection for every one safety. Appreciate her support and thanks her for her cooperation.
After that I work with the inspector, evaluate inspector’s knowledge and skills, and support him/her to obtain required training, empower him or her for high performance with great customer service skills.
Inspectors need to train on emotional intelligence, training with various real examples, train them to manage stress etc. Give information to the passenger all strict security measures on behalf of their safety. Leaflets, posters and announcements can be used educate the passengers. It will help increase their
