The word media originates from Latin which is derived from the word medium, signifying mode or carrier. The word was first used in respect of books and newspapers for example print media and with the advancement of technology, media now encompasses television, movies, radio and internet, but why is media important. In today’s world, media becomes as essential as our daily needs. Media of today is playing a significate role in creating and shaping of public opinion and strengthening or weakening today’s society but some media programs have turned to more entertainment then information such as the news show The Project which I will be discussing further is more of a comedic show then news.
The Project is presented by wise a comedic bunch, Waleed Aly, Carrie Bickmore and Peter Hellair who put a smile on their audience face by using language features such as hyperbole, understatement, irony, juxtaposition and puns who tune on at 7 p.m. which is significant to the shows rating as their demographic audience is mainly workers and young people as they constantly make references to new trending topics such as tv shows music and apps which works in as product placements as well as brining in celebrities to interview. …show more content…

Troubling news events can inspire dark satire, which may help unite people in their shared values as well as understanding and injecting lessons with a little humour can help audience remember the key points furthermore I believe that the project gets huge number of viewers because of how it uses comedy as one of the key characteristic of your everyday Aussie is a great sense of humour as it can be seen in great t.v shows and movies such as Crocodile Dundee and The Castle which is basically based up on the typical Australian sense of comedy as the castle was first initially supposed to be open to only Australian cinemas
