I also work as a med-surg nurse, mainly with surgical patients with other medical conditions. I feel I have gained the most knowledge on this floor along with skills. I have remained on the same unit for the last 9 years because of the different experiences and patient outcomes related to the care given. While I do float to other units at times, I don't get the skill and assessment needs that I experience on my own unit. Having an understanding of the patient's care such as the cost of medications is truly a need in healthcare.
